104 USD, wow I’m surprised it made it to $100 but awesome. These names will sell all day long at a low end retail price. I’m thinking anywhere from $299 to $999. Sure it could sell for more maybe thousands in some lottery type sale and if you wait long enough, but I’ve found that there are certain names that will sell a lot quicker in this range.
Your target audience is different, you’re most likely going to sell this name to someone doing a small IM project and wants the EMD, or to a developer or random person that wants to highlight Christmas light displays. They will never pay $5k plus because who would pay that to make a fun Christmas light site? The point is, there are all kinds of people looking to build websites or start a project and pricing your names accordingly will increase sales and give these people decent names to build on.
These have to be priced with a BIN price on a platform where the customer can easily click and pay for the name. You’re looking for the low end impulse buy and the only way to get that it with a BIN price on a platform that will give it some exposure. The person coming to Godaddy to register a name for their Christmas light project isn’t going to negotiate for the name. They’re going to buy a name that’s in their budget and that has the least amount of hassle possible.
I sell more names on Godaddy Premium listings than anywhere else. I’ll sell names that I’ve never had an inquiry anywhere else. If I’m going to let a name drop, I can change the price to $50 or $100 and see what happens. The best part is it’s easy for everyone, the customer gets the name right away, and I don’t have to do anything. The name is automatically transferred into the other account and a few days later I get the proceeds in my paypal. A lot easier than trying to negotiate a sale for $500 and go through escrow and the transfer. I’m talking specifically about these lower end retail names only here and not other types of assets.
