CHINESE AUCTION RESULTS & TRENDS FOR JANUARY 1, 2016

A couple of days ago, we took a look at the volume of names purchased over most of December.  Today I decided to look at the total amount spent in USD.  December 19th really was a banner day in terms of volume and dollars spent.  Over $700K was spent on that day alone.

I’m happy that 2016 is now here.  I was holding off selling pretty much anything at the end of 2015 for tax reasons.  I need to actually sell some stuff now.  Good luck to everyone in 2016 and Happy New Year!

Most of the descriptions are easily understood, but just in case there are questions:
N = Numeric
I = Initial (a letter not including a,e,i,o,u,v)
C = Character (any number or letter)

  1. Hi Travis,

    Are you positive about the prices of 3C, 4l and 4L .com ? I do not see any such trends on Chinese websites.

    1. Hi Amaresh, thanks for the comment. Currently, I’m getting data from the Chaomi.cc website. In the first posting I did, I included a section at the bottom stating that you had to be careful with some thinly traded categories. When there isn’t data to get sales averages, I use the number posted on the home page. I’m not positive what this number is. Google Translate states that it is the latest price. I took that to mean that it is the price for which the last one sold, but I have also seen it referenced as the highest current BIN price. Either could certainly swing things away from the normal average if it is a high quality or low quality name in the category. Volumes have been very low in these categories over the past few days so the averages may not reflect real price trends. There are only 4 reported 3I.com sales since Christmas. I’m looking at data from more places to help with this issue. Please let me know the sources that you use. I would like to take a look at them as well.
