I would like to announce I will be leaving DSAD.com today and Josh and Travis will be taking over.  It’s healthy to get away from everything routine and step out and experience new things.  No. I’m not leaving DSAD for good. Just for a week or two.  For 9 years I have worked every single day. Either at the nursery or with domaining.   I am going to try and do neither for a little while.  Because the last time I didn’t work at all, I felt a recharge and a new outlook that was amazing. The first time I noticed how quickly you can change as a person with a simple experience was Mt. Rainer.  It was difficult, exciting, dangerous, and fulfilling.   I was away from work for only 4 days but I came back a new person.  I came back with no fear of heights.  I was deathly afraid of heights to the point I couldn’t ride a carousel, but I lost it after a trip to the mountain when I realized I just needed some action to remind me that I was safe.  On the mountain its a clip. On a tall building I just feel the window.  I had never liked coffee but on the mountain that was your only choice for hot beverage and all of a sudden it was pretty good. I have had a coffee every morning since.  I was also reminded how good people are.  I hiked up there with complete strangers.  Smiling, laughing, and only paying attention to safety.  Everything else was careless.   I was so busy and enjoying the time I forgot about the world.  Nothing mattered but that particular time.  And it was exhilarating. And when it was over I loved everything I had in my life that much more.

The partnership with the other three guys have given me a life. Some personal freedom.  Freedom to go on my trips.  To spend more time with friends and family.  Now I have people to bounce things off.  We can combine efforts so things aren’t as hard. Working with the DSAD team has reminded me that alone I am one,  but with a team you can be a 10.  I’ve added three great friends.  Met three people with drastically different personalities and skills and yet they all are rockstars in their expertise.  Learning to work as a team has its challenges.  Josh and I have had some great yelling matches with him being right almost every time.  There is a reason that many bloggers work alone.  One, the income isn’t really there to split up.  Two, the drive that makes a blogger successful often makes them impossible to work with.  They can’t give up the reigns. It’s their baby.  The problem with being a one man show is your site them becomes only as good as you are on that day.  You can see the slumps in content when other things going on.  The articles become one paragraph, copy and paste, or rehash of other people’s work.  It’s tough because it really never ends. You never get a break without your site suffering.  People only come back for new stuff.  The day after you wrote your article you’re only as good as your next one. With partners, there is always someone to step in and share the duties.

And while I’m thankful, I want to also thank Francois Carillo.  He and I have been partners for 9 years at Domaining.com.  I don’t own Domaining.com but we are still partners.  It’s the ultimate partnership.  We both survive without each other but we are much better off working together.  The 1 is one but 2 is 4 as mentioned above.  He was the ONLY one that helped me out in the beginning.  He even was my first sponsor and gave me money to keep going when nobody would advertise.  I found my “thing” in these lists and he supported me all the way.  Without him, I wouldn’t have met Aaron, the Josh, then Travis and all the above wouldn’t be. He gave me something to work hard for. And for that I will always be thankful.

So I’m off for another great journey.  Hoping to see and learn some new things.  Hoping to come back a better man than I left.  I love my family and friends but the goal of a great adventure is to become immersed and in the moment and take it all in.  The only way for me to do that is to get away from everything that is the norm.  I don’t always have to risk my life like climbing mountains but I do have be uncomfortable.  You all know I like uncomfortable.   So I will be back in a week or two.  The list and site should be better without me when I’m gone.  Enjoy NamesCon and make sure to say Hi to Josh, Aaron, and Travis who will all be there.  Buy them a drink for me and let them know you appreciate them.  I know I do.  Take care. Here are today’s names.
