Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Friday July 7th

Escrow.com

My whole life I’ve been searching for that feeling.  That feeling I got when I knew the next day I was going to Putt Putt.  Putt Putt in the 80s was a kids dream.  Miniature golf and a giant room of the newest arcade games.  Ms. Pac Man, Crazy Climber, Star Wars,  Tank, Qubert, Galaga.  I could go on and on.  And on Sundays they would have 80 tokens for $5.  I could play all day for $5.

I could hardly sleep the night before I would get so excited.  And when I was there I was in heaven.  Unfiltered joy.  I didn’t have an Atari, Intellivision, or a color TV growing up. It just wasn’t something we did around the house. Going to play video games was a treat.  It sounds like something your Grandpa would say but we just didn’t sit around playing games.  I went out and shot basketball instead of playing video games.  I pretended I was on the free throw line and needed to make two shots to win the championship.  I must have been in that situation over 5000 times.  I’m not sure why they kept picking me.

It’s a feeling I’ve been chasing for 35 years.  Every thing I do I measure against that feeling.  You may think its silly or sad that everything is compared to playing video games or shooting hoops when you were a kid.  But it was the first time of pure joy.  There was nothing more fun in the entire world.  And its very difficult to reach the same levels you reached on your first time.  Don’t get me wrong.  I have things I truly enjoy doing.  There are things I look forward to.  But not at the same level.

Maybe now I have a lot more fun things to do.  Maybe now I control my own destiny and actions.  Maybe its just a case of diminishing returns.  Maybe I’m just so happy and content the peaks and valleys are what they used to be. Regardless, I still go back to that place of pure happiness if I ever get a little bogged down.   I know that the simplest things have made me happy over my life.  That something someone said on twitter or on a comment section is meaningless.   Only my friends and family have the ability to truly adjust my happiness. That some times its healthy to do some things that add no value other than to give you some happiness and fun.

Domains is my newest found fun.  While I get tired of doing this list some nights, most nights I truly look forward to going through the list.  Its something I would do regardless of posting a pick list each night.  People say I have nothing to offer with this daily list but I beg to differ.  I represent a lot of domain investors.  I think I represent the majority of domain investors.   What I mean is that more domain investors are trying to make some extra cash on the side than doing it for a living.  The quantity and quality of the domains of old is over.   They want to know what domains they can buy on a daily basis and what they sell for. That’s what DSAD offers.  And I have a fantastic time trying to provide that.  “But all you care about is the commissions”  BS.  I keep doing it because of the commissions but its not all I care about.  I love to tell stories. Talk about my journey.  I think people like following along.  That they can relate to it.

Hopefully you get the same excitement I do from domains.  If not then you need to find it.  Or stop for a while and go find out what makes you the most excited and see if you can make money doing that.  You can tell Rick Schwartz still has that excitement.  He still talks daily about it on Twitter even though he’s made more than enough to go have his fun.  But making money and domains is passion.  And passion and excitement lead to good things.  Maybe not as good of things as a full day playing Galaga, but good things.  Here are today’s names.
