Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday April 16th, 2018

Escrow.com

One thing I learned early and the Internet is proving.  Just be you.  Just like domains, you are unique.  There’s nobody like you for better or worse.  You are your own brand and its a brand that you’re going to carry with you the rest of your life.  I’m so glad that my early brand wasn’t in public view because I was just like every other teenager.  Trying to figure things out.  Good choices, terrible choices.  It’s why I give some slack to young people.  They have a ton of room to grow, whether they know it or not. They’re a brand in the making.

I have been looking through resumes and one of the first thing I do is look at their Facebook profile.  I am constantly amazed what people put on Facebook.  Some of the post literally give them a zero percent chance of being hired.  A guy that applied for sales has a picture two days before the interview of him laying in a pile of empty beer cans while he’s passed out drunk.  I realize that for every one I see like that there are probably 3 people in higher positions somewhere doing much worse things that aren’t on Facebook.  Blessed in public.  23 year old secretary girlfriend in public. But this applicant wants to join our team and right off the bat I’m thinking he probably doesn’t have the best decision making skills.  He doesn’t realize it but his public brand is not strong.

The beauty of the Internet is everyone now has a voice.  Anyone can write exactly how they feel, what they are doing, and what they love or hate and have it for the world to read.   But once you do that you WILL be judged. Your brand will be impacted.  That’s the result of being public.  You have created your brand using that voice.   You might as well face that there are those that will disagree with you and will automatically dislike you for whatever reason.  You could say that you want to save puppies and you will have those that are mad because you should be helping humans instead of animals.  I would never tell anyone to be be careful what they say.  I will only tell them that it will be there essentially forever and will become a part of how people think about you so keep that in mind as you say it.

I realize that not everyone wants to be a brand.  But there is a saying that’s been around since the beginning of time.  “A man (person) is only as good as his word”.  Its becoming  harder to be good if you don’t have any words.   Here are today’s domains.  Click to see the latest price

Quote of the Day: “Your brand is what other people say about you when you’re not in the room”  -Jeff Bezos

Domain of the Day:  JYRO.com     Pronounceable and great short brand for under $1K.  Or at least it was under $1K when I typed this

Namejet and Sedo Names at Auction

DarkPower.com   Met reserve.  Already a movie but going to be the name of many more things to come

PWDA.com    A for association

TheScreeningRoom.com    Nice movie related domain.  2 bidders.  1996 birthday

FESA.com   CVCV attract the bidders but the reserves are always on the high side

Godaddy Domains That I Like With Multiple Bids

TagFootball.com   With the brain injuries in football we may be playing tag or flag for all football under High School in the US soon.  Already initiated in many states

TogetherTime.com   Some of the most important times for a couple when you have a lot of children

InstantCompany.com   Great name to sell incorporation help.   Also what some people think they have when they have a domain. Nope.  Company behind it is the real work

ViennaRealEstate.com    Obviously Real Estate names are good assets but I have always wondered how English worded foreign real estate names perform or if they are really used.  Or just for catering to English based customers

SoftSmart.com   Two of the bigger words in naming back in the 90s.  Still work today IMO

NorthMetro.com  Upgrade name for quite a few entities

FutureGrass.com   Canna or lawn of the future

OpenWealth.com   Citibank has a product with this name so you’ll have to watch out for that but good financial name

MBS.cc  Most bids on the GD board today

Spumante.com   Big boy name.  Means “sparkling wine” in Italian.  From the piedmont region vs the Champagne region

Bonuss.com    Travis tells me that the double letter thing sells on Brandbucket so I put this here

CruisesDeals.com   GD gives this the highest valuation on the board.  I don’t like the cruise plural thing

WineCamp.com    I can only imagine the women that would go to this

Godaddy Names With One or NO Bids

VelvetThunder.com  You’re not going to forget it. Sounds like a 70’s punk rock band

HomeRun.cc  Pretty good keyword.  No bids at $12

DownSouthStudios.com  I’ve been told not enough guys record there

SwiftEquity.com  Get money fast.  No bids

BostonGreen.com   Sounds like the Whole Foods of Boston  .  At $12

VegasStripLive.com  Not worth a ton but I can see a ton of live cameras from the strip to watch.  Would be fun people watching

SensualTechnology.com  There is plenty of it out there right now.  Solid name for remote control adult toys

SprayOnSun.com  Going to be a sunless tanning lotion site in due time

ManyGame.com  Already a popular site called manygame and pretty sure this gets some good traffic. But haven’t seen the numbers so don’t take my word on it

MarijuanaCost.com  Good name for a leafly type site.  Keep up with current weed rates

Weedgasm.com   Because some people get really excited about their marijuana.  No bids

TheMontana.com Upgrade name for a few places named The Montana.  At $12

CrimsonLizard.com Color + Animal has always been a pretty good brand.  Not sure Lizard is an animal but close enough for $12

  1. And from the other extreme Shane, would you consider hiring a young person who isn’t on Facebook or any other social media?

    1. Fizz,
the nursery industry is a little different. We have a lot of earthy, organic types that shop and work that are more outdoor and less social media. Its not all that unusual. Until the last few years 50% of the men that worked at our place didn’t have any social media. So in short, yes.
