I was looking through the daily auctions and remembered a site I used back in the day called Bido.com It was a popular site for a year or two. It let anyone submit a name at auction and then let people vote which names deserved to got to the auction phase. Like all sites it was gamed a little but it did provide some good names and a decent place to sell. I did both back in its heyday. Now? It’s pretty much a ghost ship sailing. Not much action and very few names. I’m not sure who’s using the site but I’m not sure why they aren’t using the other auction houses. I did have some good memories visiting but pretty sure that will be my last goodbye.
Domaining.com made the big announcement of no more Crypto articles. Really only effects Morgan and TheDomains as far as whole articles on crypto. I’m still going to throw in some mention in the articles but will focus on domains as it should be. Speaking of ghost ship. Domaining.com looks like one with absolutely nothing on the site but a DropCatch ad and the articles. Nothing on the sidebar. Blank. Can’t even advertise he is other site Crypto.info.
The domain space is tightening up a little. Plenty of money here but it takes work that not a lot of people are willing to do with all the alternatives out there right now. Here are today’s names at auction today. Click for current price

I am still amazed they exist. I look at their site prob once or twice a year. Haven’t done anything over there since 2011. I wanted to log in to my account and just had to get a new password since of course I forgot mine from so long ago. I just looked at some domain auctions I have won and some that I have sold. Funny thing is, it shows that I had sold a few dot mx domains. If you asked me if I ever had any dot mx I would have said no but I now remember I regged prob a half dozen or so as soon as mx was released and sold them thru Bido. I actually got more $ for those few mx’s than I did my 4L.coms!

I see I sold VPTP.com thru Bido @$28 and I know I didn’t lose any money because I remember buying those 4L’s in bulk for about $10+ back then!

Thanks Travis. I really haven’t dealt with 4L’s in years. I had much better 5L pronouncable sales there than the 4L’s during that time. So, I had to look. It was a $14 purchase so, 100% roi isn’t bad. Would have been a great hold as well. $14 + $8 (per year) x 7 (years) = $70. Wish I would have kept every 4L I had at that price. 150% – 225% still damn good even years later. It really goes to show what a great Business we are in if we buy our domains right. They really do not lose value, only gain.

If you bought vptp.com at the end of 2015 / beginning of 2016, you would be sitting on a 50%+ loss right now most likely. So domains do lose value on occasion – especially if you buy at the top of a Chinese inflated mega-bubble. At the same time, that would have been a great time to sell 4L names you paid $14 for several years ago.
I hadn’t considered the titty patrol angle of this name though. It’s possible it could go for more.

Yeah, good old Bido. I still visit the site almost daily. I don’t know why. But there are sometimes some pretty okay ccTLD names there.
It was pretty revolutionary back then.
