Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Thursday April 26th , 2018

Escrow.com

$18,000 for Sheepdog.com.   That’s the price yesterday it went for yesterday at the Godaddy expired domain auction.  The price says so much about the market right now.   One word (I think this is 2) brands are rising in price at an incredible rate. They are being scooped up and put into use by companies like no other point in time. Once sold, it becomes tougher and tougher to replace.  Each round of sales causes an increase in price for the next round.  It’s the reason why you see 90% of private inventory with super high reserves right now.  They don’t want to risk having a name sneak out at a cheap price when its so hard to get a similar name back.   And because of these high reserves it takes much longer to sort through auction names that have a chance to be a good buy.

Remember.  These are one words and top end two word brands.  The other names are moving but nowhere near the pace of these.  I also think that end users are figuring out that these names aren’t $200 names.  They no their not some shitty .us name.  But great brand one word do com.   Sheepdog is a fantastic brand.  Easy to spell, say, and everyone can picture the dog with the hair over his eyes.  $50K name no problem.  So $18,000 isn’t a bad price if you have the means to move the name and the means to pay for it.  I have a chance at the former and the latter would squeeze my bankroll for a few months.  I’ll stick to cheaper names for a little while longer before I jump into the big boy ring.

On a personal note, I got a final run of tests at the doctors and figured out my chest problems. Long story short, all my physical work got my ribs and the muscles around them jacked up.  Every time I pull, lift and even exhale is causing my ribs to dig at my muscles.   We figured it out through a bunch of questions and answers and tests.  Its going to take a while to fix and will still be painful for a while but at least I know there isn’t a heart issue, lung damage, or infection.  Just all my rib bones rubbing against sore muscles which causes my lungs to jump around, which causes me to be short of breath, which causes me to pass out.  No biggie.  Have a good day and may your sheepdog come cheap today.  Here are today’s domains.  Click to see the latest price

Domain of the Day: TechTank.com     Shark tank for tech only

Namejet and Sedo Names at Auction

NeverLookBack.com  I think it meets reserve and sells.  My favorite name on the board.  Not the most valuable but my favorite

FoodJunkies.com  Most of the world is this so big market.  40 bidders

Faggy.com  Some will see this as offensive but I bet someone will also Looooooove it

PressWriter.com  Press release service all the way.  Met reserve at $70

PSRI.com  I for indusries and International

StrawberryFarms.com  sounds like a nice organic, natural brand.  Reserve under $500

PlantCatalog.com No I don’t want it.  I have nurserycatalog.com already

TuxedoClub.com   MUCH better than Tuxedo.club and a heck of a lot cheaper.  I think .club is a terrible investment. Not bad if you are building it out

Godaddy Domains That I Like With Multiple Bids

I’m in a bit of a hurt so I am going to list the names with no bids or one bid that I found below and then a big list of the name, alphabetized and camel cased below.  I promise I won’t make this a habit but got home from work at 8pm and not the usual time available that I have normally.  Travis and Josh will have the next two nights to give me time to prepare for a huge weekend at the nursery.  The downside of living a double life.

Godaddy Names With One or NO Bids

GlobalSportsMarketing.com  There is a company that does this called Global but this is a general term as well. Surprised it has no bidders

ChicagoMarine.com  Last time I checked Chicago had a huge lake next to it

Dust.tv  100,000 backlinks and no bidders

Sprewell.com   Good brand and a last name

RoyalEscorts.com  Sounds high end. And people like their escorts high end

RoundTriangle.com  Not a ton of value but it makes you think

BuyAtCost.com  It never really is but great marketing name

  1. FYI – The link for NeverLookBack.com goes to NeverLookBlack.com which is not on auction.

  2. Hey Shane .. glad to hear your issues weren’t as serious as they could have been! It’s amazing how interconnected the body is .. and how sometimes things we would never guess are related can heavily influence other part of the body. After my big rollerblader vs truck accident I remember having chest pains at one point during my recovery as well .. it turned out being more to do with my back and shoulders than anything else. Kinda freaked me out for a while .. so I understand your concerns and again am glad you’re going to be ok (just be sure to REST .. there’s a dictionary word you should look up .. talk about a monster brand as well (health/wellness/retirement/travel/etc) .. .com is not in use .. you should offer the owner 18k .. lol)
    .
Technically Sheepdog is somehow both one word and two words for the breed of dog (according to my quick check yesterday). So that makes it a little weird to price. I also am not sure how globally recognised it is either (I wasn’t sure it was a real breed and needed to Google it myself .. which at the end of the day I guess doesn’t really matter if most people imagine the same thing when they hear the word). It’s certainly far more than $18k retail .. but because of those unique characteristics I’m not sure how quick a sale it would be compared to other 1 words. With a little patience I’m sure your $18k would find a better wholesale investment sooner than later. But yes .. definitely those 1 words are drying up .. I wish I came to the party at the same time as you and Drew!
    .
Also .. I think your current position in domaining is much more “big boy” than you give yourself credit for and you aren’t as small potato as you think. Maybe if you compare yourself to Drew and other full timers on Domain Sherpa .. but your portfolio certainly doesn’t come anywhere close to representing the average domainer .. with domains like Botany, Uncomfortable, multiple “top end 4L” (not nearly the same thing as just “average 4L”) and some of the other goodies in your portfolio (weren’t you supported to post your top 75 a week or two ago?).
    .
Anyhow .. glad your health situation is figured out and that it looks like you’re going to be fine! 🙂

  3. Yes, sheepdog.com is great for a brand. Several security/guard companies use it, but it can be used for loads of different business I think.
