Domain Spotlight:

Escrow.com

We discuss it more in length on Sherpa on Monday but we have a pretty good show on generic vs brand.   Ammar Kubba, Frank Schilling, and myself on the panel this coming week and the portfolio brings out the topic of technology and how to capitalize on it using domains..   We discuss brands and the fact that most companies are not naming their company the generic product name, rather coming up with a name that represents their products.  Unless its a major category and a brand unto itself like Matress.com or Shoes.com, they are going with a name like Chewy.com or Zappos.   Its the reason why one word dot coms are skyrocketing in cost.  And why two word generics are moving towards zero if they don’t make a good brand.   On two word dot come the singular is generally the brand and the plural is the product.  For instance.  SugarMaple.com is a great brand.  But SugarMaples.com is about the tree.  Of course there are exceptions.  But its a good way to think when putting value on names.  Here are today’s names. Quote of the Day:  “Spoon feeding in the long run teaches us nothing but the shape of the spoon” -E. M. Forster

Domain of the Day:  TheHashtag.com    Great twitter name.  Really any social media

Namejet Names at Auction

WaterSupply.com    1996 domain.  One of the most important resources on earth.  OK the most important

HybridBike.com  As seen on DomainSherpa.   We all liked it but agreed its a bit generic and that a bike company is not going to use it to name their company.  More as a marketing name

ActionSolar.com   I like solar names. I think a lot of companies are created around it in the near future

SolarMadeSimple.com   Someone else agrees as they’ve put a lot of solar names up for sale on Namejet today.  Some good ones in there

YogaStars.com    You know they should be pretty flexible

Sex.ws   Here you go.  Alan one of the original owners is dumping his .ws names.  If you want to buy low here is your chance

LiveRoots.com   See your family history or plant root stimulator

Flowers.ws  I have to admit, as little confidence as I have in .ws this one is appealing

Staplers.net  If you want to do a whole site selling staplers this would do it

888391.com   I took a bath with my 888, 6N.com but still like them

Godaddy Domains That I Like With Multiple Bids

EternalWave.com   Love this one.  The eternal wave is a surfers dream.  1997 domain

FashionSpace.com   Four figure bids already.  A lot of money in fashion.  Even Jessica Simpson is selling hundreds of millions of dollars worth of cloth

Esoterra.com   Terra and esoteric together make a pretty brand

eSugar.com   Sugar has been a big part of brands and obesity for decades

Spresso.com   Nice brand .  Expresso comes to mind but more than coffee

SunsetGarden.com     I would like to see an S but at this price still good for a retirement center or Chinese restaurant

Enseco.com   Most of results come up for the energy company name of the same name

LocalShipping.com     Internet and shipping.  The future

Kovio.com  Nice 5L.com

LocalVocal.com    Brands that rhyme are more memorable.  A few bidders agree

SellHouseQuick.com  A bit Tarzanish but people will get it

ITAss.com   I guess it could be iTass but I like my capitalization better.  Several bidders

KWR.cc     LLL.cc still holding on to value

Domains That I Like With One or No Bids

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.com You’ve been waiting. Here it is. 49 Zs. Don’t be afraid of the cost

Nude.cc 1998 and no bidders. Keyword .cc don’t get very good prices

Hurricanes.net Weather or Miami fan

Stewdent.com I think this is pretty funny

LogoHouse.com Hell of a buy at this price

TrashyNovel.com Everyone loves them in the summer. Could be a brand too

SwampKing.com I can hear the southern accent in the commercial

ExtraLuck.com Who can’t use a little extra luck?

HealthyFootwear.com Not sure how footwear can be healthy but that’s not important. As long as they think its healthy I guess

OriginalVape.com Even if you aren’t the original

FlowMobile.com don’t love it but it’s getting some bids and I love the word flow

55TD.com The 55 will draw some bids

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an emailI Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by me, Shane . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct. I hand choose my names but I am paid to make this list by the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
