You know who is really winning in these LLLL.com times? The auction houses. Especially those that get to sell expiring names like Godaddy and Namejet. Think how many hundreds of thousands of unexpected money they are raking in. Not to mention all the auctions that have been listed and sold. 10 and 20 percent of thousands of names that used to be $100 now $1000. I only wish people bought them off my list. I get reports on what people buy (not detailed) and the LLLL.coms aren’t what gives me the commissions. And my commissions haven’t gone up despite the increase in LLLL.coms. It’s been steady so that may mean some are selling through the list and its making up for the lack of other types of domains that you’re not seeing as much. Anyone buying LLLL.coms though this list? Sorry, but I haven’t been following the Chinese invasion that closely. Are all these Chinese premium short domains actually being sold on to end-users at the same high prices, or are they all held by investors who see them as kind of an alternative “safe” investment much like gold?
Once they are posted on your site they go for too much$$$. I have tried to buy some via your links but they seem to go up and up.
Fun to watch which short names and extensions are the favorites. Apparently .com, .cn and .cc are the “top” ones. 🙂

The point I was making is not to tie an insult, as you percieve it, to what happened with Adam Dicker. The point I was trying to make is that some people have completly ignored what has happened which for me would question whether they would let things slide if the perpertrator of something shady was, for an example, one of their advertisers. I do not get the impression Shane would.
As I said before, good or bad Shane says what he feels, at least with people like this you get an honest opinion. You can agree with it or you can think he is talking bollox but the bottom line is it is what he actually thinks.
As for the actual “insult”, we all work online, I get a ton of spam and unrequested PRs everyday. At the end of the day we are sat behind computers in comfort it is not exactly miners getting Carpal tunnel. Whether someone actually felt slighted I dont know, this whole converstaion could be moot.

I closed the comments because it was going nowhere. You wont out talk or convince Joseph. I just prefer to not talk to him to keep someone from getting hurt. He or I are not bad guys. There was some throat slashing talk in a thread. It was meant as a joke but I did not find it funny and I vowed to never respond to any more of his comments. I am scared for myself, my family, and my online business of the things he would do to me. I am not claiming he would hurt me but he told me what he was prepared to do to my reputation when he was mad at me last time. It is not a joke to me.
They’re perceived as an alternative investment – albeit one that’s less trackable by the Chinese government. 4L’s, 5N’s, 4N’s, etc. – anything liquid is being Hoover-ed up without much thought for end-users. Some may sell, but for now they’re just being held.
Shane, one reason I come back here every day is the variety. Thanks for making it about more than one category or price range. You’d be amazed how fast those ‘no bids’ auctions get bids as a result of this site.
