DomainShane’s BIG LIST of Domain Name Auction Picks: Friday, October 2nd, 2015

Escrow.com

After a few weeks of weaker names, Namejet has some really good names today.  Making up for the slacking inventory at Godaddy.  Of course you can always count on a ton of LLLL.coms going for high price. You know LLLL.coms have risen to great levels when the unsolicited offers you get via email are actually good offers.  They are still reseller prices but $500 and $1000 offers for names I paid $100 a couple years ago make me feel good. I actually overpaid for HDDH.com a few years ago and the value dropped below what I paid for it for a while.  But now its soared past that level and I’m in to positive territory.   Pretty sure anyone that bought an LLLL.com a year ago is doing just fine.  And to the commenter that said the LLLL.com and the NNNNN.coms are a joke.  I can’t see how anything that has this much value is a joke.  Here’s today’s list. Click for current prices.

TalkingStocks.com  19 years old.  Not sure if the stock forums are still popular but I know for a fact that stock blogs still pay well.  A few bidders

InvestingNetwork.com  Also 19 years old but no bidders.  You can invest in a lot of different things

MassPass.com Lots of uses for this one.  13 years old.  And it rhymes which is always nice.

WMP.cc  he he  Top bid getter on Godaddy is a dot cc.  Then again, maybe that isn’t a good thing

GPHP.com  Repeating Pee.  Sounds like me after drinking.  Four figures and climbing

GQHX.com   Getting there as well.  Q for quality

PBJD.com   Starting to look like all no vowel, no v names are going to be four figures in the very near future

GayPay.com  I think it should be the same as everyone else.  Wait…you want to pay me to do what?????

DomainSAppraisal.com  Don’t.  Just don’t.  The S makes no sense

Tongue.me  Only one bidder at $12

OrangeGiraffe.com   Pretty good name for $12.  Only one bidder

HelpYouLearn.com   Another nice one for $12.  One bidder.  I could always use help lernin

Julias.com  Upgrade for a ton of places.  And yet there is only one bid

Special Domain Shane ONLY Coupon…….. CODE IS DDCDS2015 – Good 30% off Discount Domain Club, to get the lowest renewal prices Godaddy offers (DDC)

PDIT.com  20 years old.  At $200

Fertilize.com  Great name.  Good use for the lawn or pregnancy industry.  As seen on Sherpa

Fertilizing.com   Up for auction as well.

MarketWeek.com   Sounds like a show I’d see on PBS on Sunday.  48 bidders

OnlineAssistant.com   Another nice one.  Obvious use

Toil.com  As seen on Sherpa as well.   Drew told me that if I read more Shakespeare I’d know how valuable it is

Among.com  I wouldn’t know what to do with this one but a nice short dictionary word

Sprained.com  Good medical name but having trouble with it as a brand

ChildbirthClasses.com  The best part was the coupon for a free pizza

Magro.com  Hoping to get this for $69.  I’m about two years too late from that happening

Detract.com   Isn’t my favorite on the list but 75 bidders are hard to ignore

Alpha.xyz  Getting action because of that recent startup that bought alphabet.xyz

  1. All the links go to GoDaddy, you mentioned in the intro that there are some good ones on NameJet today.

  2. Shane,

Here are a some recent examples of nonsense, hype and ‘real value’.

Did you also say ‘how can anything with this much value be Joke’ with reference to these few examples?

    Subprime mortgages had real value…
Cabbage Patches dolls and my little poney collectables had real value…
Shares in Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns, Enron, Worldcom, Kodak and Blackberry had real value..,
Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC had real value…
Dotcom companies on the late 1990’s had real value…
    .Mobi Domains had real value…
The Chinese stock market 8 months ago had real value…
Commodities stocks and Oil 2 years ago had real value…
Video Stores, VCR tapes Sony Betamax had real value…
3 and 4 letter keyword domains had real value…
    Google Glass had real value…
BitCoins from 2 years ago had real value…
The Russian Lada & DeLorean car had real value…
My Iphone 4 had real value…

    1. Barry,

You listed things that were hugely popular and then declined. But there was billions of dollars made and yes, lost. You think this fits into that category. I think you’re wrong. Only time will tell who’s right. Many of those you listed above presented amazing opportunity to make money if you thought they were a “joke” . Were you able to capitalize on any? Many people cheer or jeer from the sideline. I like to pick a side and capitalize on my thoughts and have some skin in the game. But that’s me

  3. Until they invent a new way to access, surf and index the internet, short and easy to remember domains will rule. Mobile is the access device of choice and short names work the best on a small keypad. The International market is proving that with the values of short names and combos going up. People speaking any language can remember them. I even like some number combos with the 0 at the beginning. It is supposed to be bad but take a look at your mobile keyboard. 09876 are all easy to reach and type. And then oh yes look at that .com button on the keyboard as well. 🙂 Do you think Samsung, Apple etc will put a .whatever button on their mobile keypad? They all ship with a .com button on the keypad. Fun times.

  4. I think another HUGE boost to exact match .com and cctld domain names is Ad Blocking. If advertisers are unable to pump their ads on any site they pick then direct match .com and cctld’s will benefit. Natural traffic STILL flows to exact match .com and cctlds. Ad blocking software will make these exact match names even stronger.
