I saw a comment on the TheDomains.com regarding a post that was written about the uptrend in dot io. It was by a person that refuses to write anything less than 1800 characters and always feels there are forces of evil behind anything good. He feels that the success of dot io has been all hype. Hype by a select few and Flippa. A conspiracy. But this person always feels there is conspiracy. That Flippa is always evil. He is wrong. Dot io has caught on. It has reached the tipping point where the startup community and domain buyers feel that there is a future with this extension. Who caused the confidence is inconsequential. All that matters is there is a market. It also doesn’t matter if there are bag holders. There are ALWAYS bag holders. Sometimes it takes a year to make them. Some times it takes decades. We are domain investors. We buy and sell domains. Are only goal is to buy them and sell them for more than we paid. You don’t cry when you weren’t smart or risky enough to buy when they are cheap and you don’t cry if you can’t sell a name for what you paid for it. If you are a domain investor you will at some point have done both. . The job of most of the industry is to market and hype domains. All the new extensions are built on hype and marketing. I am pissed I didn’t buy any dot io. But if I see an opportunity to buy and flip a domain at any point I am going to take it. It’s called a market. The entire stock market is built on it. Sure there are assets and performance behind the stocks but most of the price is hype. There is no reasoning to 99% of stock movement. Its controlled by computerized trading. Domain prices are at least controlled by a human. Humans are buying the dot io. They are consciously placing bids and many different people are doing it. The dot io market is humans doing their own buying. And nobody is forcing them to do so. Here are today’s names.
