A little late out of the gate today. Bought a few good names the last few days. I’ll chime in later on Godaddy not showing domain sales results. I actually didn’t even know that had shut them off because I only had names in my list that I had bid on and they stay up. I completely agree that the more data we have as domain investors the better it is. I also think Paul Nick’s statement that they shut them off because they had customers upset that sales numbers were becoming public is a complete farce. Something else is going on there IMO. Namejet not only puts up sales prices but the user names of the people that buy them, and they continue to have big sales and lots of bidders. Some may care but not enough to quit bidding. I love Godaddy auctions, mainly because it gives us an opportunity to buy more names at a fair price. I don’t take that for granted. But I do agree with most people in that Godaddy absolutely does not care about it’s auction users and their thoughts and ideas. They say they have changes coming up and we are all free to email when we have problems. But the truth is, the system hasn’t changed in years, emails can take weeks to get answered. I have been so fortunate that I have been helped swiftly by employees below upper management and they have done a great job. My service people are incredible and maybe that’s all that matters. But I feel like I may be getting special treatment based on talks to others. Then again, I don’t bitch constantly about everything. (my employees may have a different opinion) I don’t write manifestos every time I have a problem. I understand their side because I have to deal with that side every day and generally have patience and understanding when discussing things. Generally. But none of that means they don’t need some major changes. Those need to come. Here are today’s names.

Godaddy did this after bettrade.com was bid up to over $1M on expired auction, the ownership of the domain, as soon as the auction ended renewed it. Now godaddy maybe is trying to discourage a registered sale price of $1M falsely existing within the Internet realm. The issue lies within it’s platform and hidden bidder ids who can’t be singled out for shenanigans.
I can tell you there are plenty bidders on godaddy who have no business bidding over $100, let alone $1000, verified assurance needs to be enacted for non VIP accounts, or foreign addresses where legal recourse could be an issue.
We all know what the issue is, very simple 2 part fix, I just don’t get why they can put this much effort into hiding sales data, but can’t assign a shown bidder id.
My grouse with blogs like this is the negative effect they have in spiking domain auction bids.
I was wondering why a domain that would have ended at $17 had a bidding war, not knowing that it had been revealed on here for the entire world to see. The reverse version ended at $12 last time, a few weeks ago. I wonder what could have happened if one that I won 2 weeks back had been announced.
It’s not funny man. Let people search for their domains themselves if they really want it or are interested in the niche.
