DomainShane’s BIG LIST of Domain Name Auction Picks: Thursday, April 2nd, 2015

Escrow.com

Last night I was involved in one of those auctions that never end.  I understand why and agree that auctions should be extended when a bidder becomes the high bidder.  It gives the previous bidder time to counter and avoids sniper.  Flippa’s hour extension is a but much but I’m fine with the time BUT…… not when the bidder hasn’t beat the high price.  Flippa extends it an hour on every single bid in the last hour. For example.  I put in $700 and the current bid is $300 and a bidder put in $310. BAM!!!!! it gets extended an hour.  In 50 minutes he puts in $320…..BAM!!!!! extended another hour.  At the rate that bidder was bidding the auction would have lasted another 40 hours.  Not exaggerating.  It would be extended 40 times and he hasn’t even passed my bid yet.  I just went to bed and woke to see what happened.  I did end up getting the name just 6 hours after it was supposed to end and deep into my beauty sleep.  .  Here are today’s names

YIM.net  18 years old.  Under $1000

Spotty.com  Would not be surprised to see this hit $5K

ORGU.com  15 Years old.  Better as a pronounceable than an acronym  Sounds like the name of a killer whale

CreativeBaking.com  No bidder. Solid cooking name.  As long as creative doesn’t mean cilantro I’ll eat it

ILoveAnything.com  Not sure if it has any value but a few bidders think it does

HeatYourFloor.com  No bidders.  Great marketing name for heated floor installers

HeatYourFeet.com Might as well pick this one up as well

9949.net  Not surprised it’s gotten this high.  May have another $1K to run

2p.cc  The highest price I’ve ever seen for a dot cc

Whittling.com  I learned to do it from Andy Griffith.  God rest his soul.  Although he may still be alive.

ZZIZ.com The worst acronym ever.  And that’s why I love it

VEWU.com  Officially a CVCV but a middle of the road one.  Still valuable

QYTY.com  Doing better than I expected.  I am still getting used to this new resurgence of Q and X

NEW GODADDY COUPON CODE: $1.99 Transfer into Godaddy VARIANT

FreeChess.com  Buildout name.  Nothing makes money like Free

Surfboard.net  Ends today.   Dot com is taken and built out forever.  Modem site.  Leaving this as the best domain in the world to actually sell or discuss surfboards

BookBag.org  Ends today. Low reserve.  Sell bookbags  At $50

Timeliness.com  A lesson on how not to list a domain.  Evidently doesn’t know how to use a reserve

700X.com  In my opinion these NNNL.com  are undervalued right now

DomainBid.com  Reserve met.  Nice domain auction name

SEDO’s Live Auctions Going on Now

CashWagon.com  16 years old and no bidders.  I’m hooking it up to truck

DMLL.com  130 bids can’t be wrong

OrganicFarmer.com   Organic is always hot.  Nice to see a farmer name doing well.

Asho.com  I’ve been called this a few times

GameViewer.com  After the billion dollar sale of Twitch, this one went way up in value

Zaxy.com  Should do well.  Has a $400 prebid

  1. Concerning the Flippa time issue, I thought you can bid below the high price or am I missing somethibg?

  2. Godaddy has the same process but only extends the auction to 5 minutes right? So if I bid $500 but the auction is only at $10 then someone can bid $5 every 5 minutes and keep extending the auction. I’m only asking because I recall godaddy saying that they do not extend the auctions if the high bidder is not changed but I have seen differently.
