DomainShane’s BIG LIST of Domain Name Auction Picks: Tuesday, May 26th, 2015

Escrow.com

Someone emailed me a great question about why I didn’t like domains built on another’s brand.  I had mentioned on DomainSherpa that I don’t like GotSomething domains because the Dairy farmers liked to defend their Got marketing campaign.  I couldn’t back up my claims with any cases but I know I had heard that in the past they would send out C and Ds to people using similar type marketing.  But since I can’t prove it lets say its not true.  My stance hasn’t changed.  I don’t like domains that are built or similar to a very popular marketing campaign.   I don’t like Got Chairs? or anything like it because the first thing that enters a users mind is Got Milk.  not Chairs.  It’s been used and overdone so much that even the Dairy Farmers ditched the campaign.  It’s similar to iDomains.  Even Apple has begun to phase out the use of iProducts names.  It’s an opinion but I would venture to guess that any marketing company would tell you the same thing when choosing a brand.  And when you are buying a domain you are choosing a brand.  It’s a domain but it will become a person’s brand. Selling them a knockoff of another brand is probably not going to give you the best return.  Again, opinion but an experienced opinion. Here are today’s names

WNVC.com  19 years old.  Why Not Venture Capital?

EveryVoteCounts.com  A heck of a lot better buy than squatting on some candidates name. 16 years old.  One bidder

KSEO.com   Going to do very very well.  Add a K, save a million

PublicityKit.com   No bidders.  Easy buildout.  Put out a “kit” ebook to help people with marketing

WildCuba.com  Go ahead and get the name ahead of the tourism craziness that will be coming soon.  And someone will sell a package that shows the fun side of Cuba.  Or maybe not. But no bidders so its cheap

EQMP.com    Over under $393

RRQQ.com    I figured it would do pretty well because of the repeating letters.   Could hit $2K

DUUP.com   Like the look of it.  I’ve always had a thing for LLLL.coms with double vowels in the middle.  I also like long hair and pretty teeth.

90803.com  There are four 5N.coms expiring that are close in number but not in price.  This is the first one

90808.com  This is the one that will cost you $15K

90807.com    You can knock off $14K if you choose this one instead

90815.com   And finally the little brother.  Not getting as much attention but could end up coming in second

90813.com   Almost missed this one.    Not sure this one will hit $1K.  But I am wrong more than I’m right with these

3367.net  Already at $500.   5% of dot com puts you over $1000 IMO

WVW.cc  So nice that I’ve been able to put a .cc on the list every day for the past week.  And all have sold for over $150

FuckFuckFuck.org   The dirty version of duck duck goose

HCQO.com I recommend buying all these LLLL.com you can for under $1oo.  But I’m not sure you can get any of them for that anymore

VERIFIED GODADDY COUPON CODE: $1.99 New Registration Godaddy art199

Die.com  I don’t want to but I sure want the name.   Whether or not you think it’s a positive word or not you have to agree its memorable.  And that’s all you need to build a great brand.  Could easily hit 6 figures

RecreationalPotShops.com  Comes with a portfolio of marijuana domains and a website that gets 50,000 page views

ImageSharing.com  The generic for the billion dollar companies that do.   The current price is a little less than a billion

Cybersquatter.com   Love this one.  The irony is so deep with this one  annnnnnd  SOLD by BIN.  The BIN was way too cheap

Freakish.com  Its back up for auction.   Not doing quite as well as the first time

TXXN.com  I love it when they say “Free Push to Your Godaddy account”  As if someone is going to charge me.  What they are really saying is .  ” I just bought this and can’t transfer it yet so I’ll have to push it”   Still like the name

SEDO’s Live Auctions Going on Now

6502.com   Over under $13500

Temy.com  I don’t like it because I think it should have another M but getting tons of bids so what do I know

LBSF.com   No vowels and that’s become a good thing lately

WhiteTie.com   So much cooler than Black Tie

Lissy.com  I don’t know what it is or means but I LOVE saying it

DNNZ.com  Surprised it doesn’t have very many bidders

Maixi.com  I am going to just assume it’s Chinese and go ahead and buy it

  1. Recent sales at GD expiring auctions:

    ApplicationSoftware.com $3,300
    MarijuanaSupplier.com $494
    EmptyWebsite.com $570

PS Kudos to Aaron for his daily posts on the results of Shane’s daily picks. It’s interesting and informative to see both sides of the transaction. Thanks Aaron!

  2. Hello Shane,

Regarding your blog post on your personal view on ‘GotSomething’ domains you mentioned that you previously comented on this topic on DomainSherpa but I searched DomainSherpa and couldn’t find anything. Could you please tell me where to look or better yet share the link!

Here is what you said, ” I had mentioned on DomainSherpa that I don’t like GotSomething domains because…”

Lastly, do you really think ‘GotSomething’ domains are BRANDS? Generally, these are viewed as slogans used in marketing. But I understand. If one doesn’t really think about it, they would conclude that it’s a BRAND. It can be confusing to some, sure.

  3. I found nothing, via the link you shared, related to my challenge to demonstrate that the blogger, previously, made ANY statements that he didn’t LIKE ‘GotSomething’ domain names. This blog post was the first time he shared this opinion.

BTW, I think it hurts the bloggers argument when ‘GotSkin.com’ is being advertised for auction on the page you shared.
