Yesterday it was announced that autism.rocks sold for $100K . Great for Rightside, great for the seller and the buyer. But it has exactly zero relevance when it comes to comparable or impact on .rocks value. It is merely a publicity purchase of which there are a lot. Some are obvious, some have not been. Autism is a great cause and it’s something I have given money towards for quite a long time. Most recently to Alan and Alek Dunn who have raised thousands for Autism over the past few years. In short, a fantastic cause, worthy of publicity and your donation. But it was not a story about the future of new Gs or .rocks. Domains sell for more than I think every single day. But this one is the most odd of them all. Here are today’s names

I consider this purchase an outlier.
I don’t know if this was purchased by an individual who might donate it or an organization. But, is this the best use of money for a cause that is in desperate need of research money? Like many of us, I also financially support a couple different autism organizations.
I guess we will see over the next couple years if this purchase generates more donations than the .com ???
