In the last two months we’ve entered a completely new domain market. The easy money is gone and we’re back to real domain investing. A place we’ve been for the last 20 years except the last three months. There are now a large percentage of our industry that are underwater or struggling to find buyers of their domains. That don’t have regular income now that everything has slowed down. There are also some brokers that got used to the last year of flipping liquid names to other domain investors. It was easy money. Now they’re not there and they have no idea how to make money. Revenue is drying up and they are trying to figure out what to do. Develop a site? That takes a while and real income takes even longer. Blog? That’s a crowded field and advertisers are few and far between in this industry. It will be interesting to see how this plays out but my guess is we will be down to the brokers like Andrew Rosener who were doing well before the Chinese invasion and will continue to do well after. The rest give some things a try and eventually take a job. Still flipping names on the side but for the family’s sake, get a regular paycheck. Speaking of Andrew.
