Escrow.com

25 years ago I sat on a train a few weeks after college and wrote a list.  A list of 25 things that I wanted to own or accomplish.  I lost the list a decade ago but I remember what was on there.  I’ve accomplished every single one of them except one.   I read 52 books in a year.  I got a 27″ television (some things were easier to accomplish).  I finished an Ironman.   I found a great wife.  I had a great kid.  I have made a million dollars.  There one accomplishment I haven’t done is get to the top of Mt. Everest.   In a few weeks I start the journey.  My first climb to start the training (and to see if I still want to and am capable of doing it) is in two weeks.  I climb Mr. Rainier.  The training wheels of mountaineering.  I have been training with a 50lb backpack.  I have have been running with a mask to simulate not getting enough oxygen.  Now its time to find out.   When I discuss Everest my wife and daughter start crying.  They, like many people, think its a stupid, selfish, no reason to do it, accomplishment.  And they may be right.  We’ll figure that out as I climb higher mountains.  Next year I am going to do a pair of mountains in Ecuador.  But I have to conquer one mountain at a time.  And because I still have one thing to check off.  Shorter list today but I take what is given.  Enjoy the day.  Here are today’s names.
