DSAD.com: Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Thursday, July 7th

Escrow.comMost people that are reading this most likely don’t own a business.  Owning a business is your best chance to make a lot of money.  A team of people all working towards making you money.  But with the rewards come the risks and the hardships.  I could write 70 pages on the good and the bad but I will say that it is much harder than people can even imagine.  Trying to manage the personalities of the team and make decisions that are in the best interest of the company but also those who are employed.  And then you get the people from the outside that want you to do better.  Perhaps offer more or different product.  Add a different service.  Things that are easy on paper but take people, money, and time to implement.  Often not financially wise and unprofitable.  In the real world lack of profit is a bad thing.  In the tech world you scale out of it.  In the regular world you scale into bankruptcy.  And some business owners are content.  Content to make what they are making and like the ease of running their business at the present size.  The have no desire to grow and even cut back a little.  Its confusing to the patrons.  They don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t want to get bigger and make more money.   If you ran a business you would know.  With all that said, I am still in growth mode at the nursery.  Scaling up, adding more people, product and services.  We’re at 40 people and killing it this year.  But only because the quality of staff and my experience.  I’ve been doing it 25 years and I’m getting pretty good at what I do.  And I still have the fire.  I won’t have it forever but I got a few good years left in me.

It’s also why I haven’t been too controversial this year.  I am seeing the other side a little bit better and I certainly am not criticizing businesses and people  that are trying.  That and the fact that comment fights are draining emotionally and I don’t want to waste that emotion there anymore.  I have other places to go with that.  My friends and idols Garry Chernoff  Michael Berkens, and Bill Kara had a few kind words and stories that guided me in the right direction in this blog, domaining, and in life.  And I think of them when I make decisions.  Its helped a lot.  I still screw up and do and say stupid stuff, but for the most part I just keep being me and doing my thing and its working out.  Here are today’s names.
