DSAD.com: Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Tuesday, Feb 23rd

Escrow.com

People are always talking about the “old school” domainers having it easy but the truth is there are a bunch of newer domain investors doing very well.  Some did it on their own, others got involved because of a friend or a family member.  One family member who is killing it right now is James “Manly” Booth of BQDN.com.  Younger brother of Andy Booth.  He just secured the brokerage rights to HH.com and NN.com.  Two of the best domains in the in Chinese domain world. Not bad for a newbie.  You’re going to need some millions to get them but if you do buy them, let them know you bought it because of me because I think James has a pretty strong affiliate program. Here are today’s names. Click to see current prices.

388288.com  Good way to start off the day.  Pretty special name here.

TVQ.com Don’t see names this high on Godaddy very often.  Six figure name IMO so it has room to run

5280.net   No bidders at $100.  Certainly worth more than that

Blunts.com  All comes down to the reserve.  Hell of a name

Y9.net   A lot shorter, and actually more rare, than a LL.net   And the price reflects it

YellowLamb.com  Most color + animal dot coms are worth $12.  No bidders

PotClinics.com I don’t even know if these are a thing but it sure sounds like a thing

ZHOP.com, CVOA.com , UEPO.com , ENAC.com, OYZA.com, UZKD.com , ZOYV.com   Here’s your daily collection of the lower boats.  We’re all hoping the float with the rising Chinese tide

KDE.net  Usually the LLL.nets are over at Namejet.  This one must have lost her way

SayUncle.com Not sure if they use this term any more.   Saying this was the same as tapping out.  I know, sounds like I’m 80 years old

CJR.biz, XCL.biz ,  FNM.biz  XCL.biz, RKB.biz, KTB.biz an TKM.biz LLL.biz are now officially money. $300 plus money

DFC.cc  LLL.cc have been money for a while

BRTM.com  Such great letters yet so little uses of it as an acronym.  CHIP

997887.com  Somebody is going to be able to buy some pretty solid patterns today

007722.com   And yet another one.  Lesser quality but still a nice pattern

138233.com, 969185.com    Not a pattern but no zeros or fours so you got that goin’ for ya

RSRX.net, NZDL.net, ZBSX.net, XTPB.net

AppMetrics.com  Sounds like a big business.  Billions of app downloads

CUZ.cc  I guarantee the word cuz has zero value here.  All because of LLL

JHFZ.cc    According to Josh’s Chart, this has an average price of $108

538.biz  I think I sold 70.biz a little too early based on this price

DQRY.com  This ugly name is worth $2K.  Don’t hate, appreciate

55LX.com  Double 5. Worth owning IMO

788130.com  I love the description.  A little off in the price though

Special Domain Shane ONLY Coupon…….. CODE IS DDCDS2015 Good 30% off Discount Domain Club to get the lowest renewal prices Godaddy offers (DDC)

MTRY.com  A CHiP at only $400 but probably because seller isn’t updating his bids

Portfolio of 50 LLL.coms.   Don’t get to buy 50 at a time very often

87934.com   I will say that Domain Holdings doesn’t have very high reservers on their numerics

ShoeGuide.org  Not a bad name.  Selling it as a website and the website is just awful.  But it makes $5 a month

ChinaBuzz.com Love the name.  Sellers account name is not good for getting a good price

IHE.com Stands for “I hate everything” to the millennials. Worth too much to be used in that direction

WKT.net Has soared past reserve. It was the most obvious gap fill in domains. LLL.nets had to move up with LLL.coms and yet very few people took advantage of it

HFB.net Had a much higher reserve and yet still met it quickly

DI8.com Very nice CCC.com ending in 8. Met reserve already

FOR OTHER GREAT NAMES FOR SALE MAKE SURE TO VISIT CAX.COM

DWWW.com   Nice triple repeater closing today

4330.com  Just to see what the going rate of a 4 and a zero 4N.com

833382.com, 121799.com, 181799.com, and 566856.com   Some nice 6N.coms ending today

ZYW.net   Gotta have a three letter dot net in order to have a list lately

  1. I wouldn’t classify Andy Booth as a newbie. The access and connections his brother grants him is something a true newbie would need years and multiple trips to conferences to build. A bit unfair to compare the achievements of Joe newbie domainer to someone like Andy.

    1. Koosah,

I think you mean James. And most of the new, successful, domain investors are people that have found people to answer questions and guide them along.

  2. I saw James Booth, back out of a chip deal at namepros when they fell, he got negative feedback on it, not a classy move once you agree to a deal.

    1. Hi Rich, Yes this did happen and I had no issue with the feedback received. I didn’t back out because of the market. I just couldn’t arrange the funds in time that the seller wanted.

  3. If I had two $5 million mansions to sell, I wouldn’t leave it up to a rookie agent to sell them. This is either blatant foolishness on the part of the owner(s) or some kind of nepotism/connection in the works beneath the surface. Also, brokering domains doesn’t make one a domain investor; maybe a domainer with huge connections but investor, no.

    1. Tony,

You ever seen Selling NY or Selling LA? They are some of the biggest real estate guys in the biz now and most are VERY young. Just because you are new to domains doesn’t mean you are new to the world. Domains are no different than any other product. And if I am giving my $5 million dollar mansions to someone to sell. I am giving them to the person with the most connections, I don’t don’t care how long they’ve been in the business. The world is run on nepotism and connections. There is no such thing as “I did it on my own”. For every person that think he/she did it by themselves is a group of people behind him that isn’t getting any credit.

      1. Thanks, Shane, for making mine and Koosah’s point. This “newbie” is doing very well because of connections and nepotism. How many newbies are in the same boat? 0.0001%?

I feel bad for the true newbies. There is a lot of unmerited and misdirected hype in domaining. Toby Clements and Adam Dicker got a lot of it in the past and they turned out to be two of the biggest douchebags. On the other hand, there are some megadomain investors you will never hear about because they make so much money they don’t need the attention or aggravation. Guys on the level of Rick Schwartz and Mike Berkens. I’ll give a shoutout to them. One owns Financing.com. Another owns wn.com.

      2. Tony,
There is always somebody bigger, better, faster and stronger than you are. Doesn’t make anyone less of a person. Just because Adam Dicker is a con artist doesn’t make everyone else a con artist. You have a fantastic domain (and probably portfolio) and so do the guys you mentioned. You can tell you hit a nerve with me because I am the 5th generation owner of my family nursery. Everyone says I am successful because my name and my family gave me my position and money. I was given opportunity. And I ran with that opportunity. I am offended every time someone says I didn’t earn what I have.
As for newbies. We are all newbies at some point in this business. But that didn’t make me naive. I didn’t know a soul when I cam here. I went to a conference solo and not invited to a single dinner or after party. But I met a few people who introduced me to a few people and by the end of the event I had made some great connections. So I don’t feel sorry for newbies. I don’t chastise those that have “ins” . Every step along the way requires due dillegence. All of life does. I celebrate hard work, I congratulate people such as yourself who have built a great portfolio, and most of all, I am learning to not be spiteful of those that have things I want or wish I had. That’s been harder for me. To learn that knocking people down doesn’t bring me up.

    2. Hi Tony, I appreciate the comment. The reason these 2 sellers gave me the names to sell was due to the fact I closed $3m in sales in my first 5 months brokering. They believe that I can get the results and I will do everything in my power to do so. I haven’t been handed any connections as my buyers are all based in Asia which is where I live so I go out and find them. Cheers, James

  4. Shane, thanks for the congrats but I want to say I didn’t write anything to draw attention to myself. It just sounds like more hype when domain veterans sometimes make it seem like it is easy to break into domaining. It is not. Not saying you did that. Just wanted to make a point and from your previous reply, I see you get it also you made it for me.

  5. Hi Shane ,
It is funny how .XYZ sales are considered by many to be fake sales.
I don’t recall any other new extension sales being viewed with such skepticism.
BTW , what is your opinion of keyword .XYZ ?

    1. Glenn,

I think keyword.xyz is great if you are going to build it out. tough to sell in the resale market for a while. Unless its a very strong brand or keyword.

      1. Thanks for your reply.
Though I do own several keyword .XYZs , I totally agree with you that they are great for a build out , but will probably take a while to catch on in the resale market.
        Thanks !
