DSAD.com: Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Wednesday, December 21st

Escrow.com

When I started out in this industry I was intimidated.  I read the forums, the blogs, and went to the shows and saw all these people that were friends.  Laughing and acting like they had been friends for life.  Talking and spending more money in a night than I made in a month…or more.  They were bidding on names that cost more than I made in a year.  Yes, I felt insecure at that first conference.  But there was one big difference between me and all these people that claim that there is a “Boys Club” in domaining that doesn’t include everyone.  I tried to build relationships.  Instead of complaining that I didn’t get a fair shake or that people ignored me, I simply introduced myself and told them a little about me.  I didn’t spam their email boxes or press them for information.  I smiled, shook some hands, and talked about domains.  And I continued to do this for years.  Eventually they got to know me and I got to know them.  Little by little relationships and trust grew over the years until I am now one of those guys you see laughing and acting like some of these guys have been my friends for life.  Now I am spending more on a domain than I made in a month.  And I got there slowly.

What I’ve learned about domain investors over the years is that those that deserve to be treated equally usually are.  Those that act like asses get treated like one.  You aren’t invited to the “boys club” not because you are a new investor or not good enough.  It’s simply that you are rude, disrespectful, and you feel that you should be treated differently than you treat others.  I can pretty much guarantee that if you go to Namescon and head into it looking for good conversation, good information, and to have a little fun, you will get exactly that.  Because its face to face.  Trolls stay at home because a big set of balls that they have in the domain blog forums don’t travel very well.   You can’t hide in the daylight of Las Vegas.  Positivity prevails.  We welcome all new domain investors.  Not because we prey on them as some of the trolls I mentioned above say.  But because we need the enthusiasm and fresh ideas that new faces bring.  As much as I love seeing Mr. Kubba and Mr Rosener at every turn, its nice to meet some new people and hear some new stories.  Make sure to find me at NamesCon and introduce yourself so I can hear those new stories.

Here are today’s names. Click for current price.

    1. Nameclix,

      I didn’t say there were four 8s. I said
that four wasn’t a bad thing not that this has four 🙂 just kidding. A little tired and seeing things.

  1. I reached out to Richard Lau after his interview on DomainSherpa & man, he was so warm and welcoming.
Its this attitude that makes you guys what you’re.
He invited me to NamesCon as well, but Vegas ain’t cheap !!
Really appreciate your behavior towards the newbies like us.

  2. I think the industry is intimidating for most people just getting started. There are so many different business models, techniques, and article writers with different advice that beginners get confused.

  3. Very heartwarming, what a great way to welcome new domainers. Merry Christmas Shane, and a Happy New Year.

  4. Hey Shane, great post! Having been following your blog for the past 2 years, I have always been aware of the power of networking but never really taken action. Now I am even more convinced to attend the NamesCon event.

  5. “You can’t hide in the daylight of Las Vegas.”
Ummm … no offence .. but if you’re seeing daylight in Vegas .. then you aren’t doing Vegas properly! 😉

As a long-ago retired DJ I really liked the look of KissMyBass.com .. but I didn’t grab it because after saying it out loud I felt strongly that it really belonged in the hands of a long-ago retired fisherman!

BTW .. have you noticed the huge drops of LLLLL .com Chips the last little bit? Boggles my mind how anyone saw any potential end-user value in 99.9% of them.
