Escrow.com

If anyone’s interested in a trial of patience, Doster and Netfirms have $5.99 com registrations. They’re possibly the worst sites ever created to register domains. Lol I’ve seriously never seen anything like it. I have never been able to register a domain there without problems. It’ll time out, won’t let me change the setting from 2 to 1 year, charges random amounts to my card.

This is how I envision the board meeting going when they were brainstorming marketing ideas. dsadmountain

President ” Ok we need to stand out from the competition, anyone have any ideas?”

BM1 ” Let’s design an awesome platform that people will love, easy to use and intuitive”

President “no, that’s a good idea but it’s been done… come on people Brainstorm!”

BM2 ” Ok I’ve got it! We’ll make the worst group of websites ever created, people will talk about how bad they are, but it’ll work, any press is good press!”

President “I love it, that’s a great idea! We’ll make the site horrible on purpose, so bad that news of it will go viral”

I’m becoming more and more convinced that I should price all of my domains on every platform. BIN prices  probably make up 90% of my sales. Not only do more names sell that way it’s also a whole lot easier. Any sales platform with instant transfer is hands off, I don’t have to do anything. I get the email that the name has sold and in a few days they send me the money. I understand the table and leaving money there, but I wonder how much money the table eats with incomplete sales, time involved going back and forth, then dealing with escrow and transfer.

It depends on the name of course, but for the mid range names that sell for less than $4k  I think it’s the way to go.

  1. BIN is the way to go for sales velocity. More sales, more offers. You have to set realistic prices, most don’t. 🙂
