IKE’S LIST OF DOMAINS AT AUCTION FOR Saturday, November 18th

Escrow.com

Today I’ll be going to the JFK 50 mile run in Washington County Maryland. The run starts in the town of Boonsboro, goes up a mountain, follows the Appalachian trail, then continues on the historic C&O canal towpath that runs along the Potomac river, finally ending in Williamsport Md.

Right now you’re saying to yourself, “Self, doesn’t this sound like something Aaron or Shane would be doing rather than Josh?” That is a valid question, the truth is I’m not running, because no one is chasing me. I see no reason to run that far when through the miracle of technology, blood, sweat and tears we’ve built roads and vehicles capable of taking me the 50 miles a lot faster, like any normal person would and not like the individuals that obviously hate themselves.

I’ll be there for all the people that, like me, shouldn’t be running anywhere, but for some reason unbeknownst to anyone, think the can do it. This is what we in the industry refer to as “Job Security”. Thousands of people running through the woods for no better reason than their own self loathing.

Of course I’m joking, I think it is amazing what we can make the mind and body do with the right training and guidance. I’m sure most of the runners in today’s race have a team, partners or friends that help hold them accountable to their training.

Sometimes I think we should do employ this idea of “accountability” with any task, concept or business that we value.

Take for instance domaining: Most of us have people that we talk to daily/weekly about what’s selling, happening, trends and so on.  This is valuable information. If you don’t know anyone personally we have forums to use for the same information. We take this information categorize and file it away subconsciously or consciously, and it surfaces again in our decision making process.

But I think I/we could take it a step farther. Maybe this idea of accountability could help us sell more domains, keep us focused, list all our domains, renew them in a timely manner, possibly stop us from registering crap.

I’m just brainstorming here, I don’t know how it would work. I do know that one of the keys would be honesty, both with our domain friends and ourselves.

We’d have to be able to tell each other uncomfortable things like,

-“That is the worst F-ing domain I have ever seen registered in the all my years on this earth, I’ve seen better domain ideas cleaning out the litter box”

or

-“Hey douche bag, did you list all of your domains on all the major market places or are you being lazy?”

Maybe even tell someone

-“Why do you keep asking me how to sell these damn things? I’ve told you time and time again to list them everywhere with reasonable buy it now prices!, This isn’t fricken rock science or any kind of science at all for that matter, It’s simple buying and selling! Been happening all over the world since the beginning of time! What don’t you understand about this?!”

and finally,

-“Seriously dude, have you ever seen a domain sale in the last 5 years of a 25 character, 7 word, long tail, exact match domain for more than $8?”

lol, there would be  all kinds of benefits to this concept of honest accountability.

  1. .
-“Hey douche bag, did you list all of your domains on all the major market places or are you being lazy?”
    .
Thanks for the reminder .. but please don’t call me a douche bag! 😉
    .
One of the many reasons I’m trying to write more is exactly that same reason .. when you write stuff out for others to see you make yourself more accountable .. seemingly to others .. but really it’s for yourself.
    .
I’m having serious time management issues .. and my portfolio is a little out of control .. I’ve been saying that for ages .. and finally the last few days I’ve started a few multiple domain portfolio auctions. Some good domains mixed in with a few I might have flipped a coin on whether to renew or not (mainly because of Steamie’s upcoming vet bill) that I might even take a bit of a loss on .. but it’s going to be good for me as I’m getting things stirred up lighting a fire under my ass!
    .
Speaking of which .. you missed HealthyAss.com for your list today .. with actually one bid so far .. lol .. or is it you who bid on it and didn’t want to share here? 😉

  2. You are on to something here with a domain investors club with accountability. One of the most valuable is to “stop us (me) from registering crap.” The money invested will hurt my overall investment return. The cash could be used for a a great domain!

I ask domainers, friends, and family for their first reaction to my names. I could be missing the boat or they see one of my good names as a great one.
