Have a great Tuesday. I’m at work for another 24 hours in the middle of a 48 hour shift.
The highlight from yesterday was the mandatory “civility” training for all county employees. It consisted of a one hour talk by an attorney telling us all not to sexually harass anyone. I’m not sure how much this cost the county, but it seems like a costly attempt at harassment mitigation. I’m sure there’s a video out there by a professional speaker that goes over the same points.
There are 15 or so of these sessions scheduled this week, county employees only have to attend one session. It seems like the county tax payer will be shelling out good bit of money for this program.
You can argue that the cost is well worth it should the county be sued due to the actions of an employee, but I think there were cheaper options that would be just as effective, and lets be honest it will have little to no impact on behavior. Few watching gave a damn or even really payed attention.
Like all government agencies, no matter how small, the county I work for has found an effective way to spend more money than it needed to. But I say raise the county taxes through the roof…but then I don’t live here. 🙂
