Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Monday, October 11th , 2021

So why did I start Beehouse? I was addicted to honey. It was a tough addiction to kick because nobody was trying to get me off of it. It had no negative effects other than left honey all over the kitchen.  I cut down on sugar.   But I had graduated to honey straight from the beekeepers and not the store shelves.  Every city and country I went to I hunted out the local beekeepers to get local honey.  There is no honey anonymous.  There would have been an intervention if it had been drugs. Instead people would send me or give me gifts of my drug. Honey. In my search for local honey I met Maggie and Steve, then Rena, then Randy and his daughter.  All the local dealers. Or Beekeepers as they call themselves. They either put hives on our nursery or sold me big batches of honey to feed my addiction.   The next step was trying to get others to join me in my honey loving. Because addicts like to hang in groups with people that also enjoy. So I started sending honey to all my friends.  One year I sent 50 bottles. Buying them all online from a big supplier.  I thought to myself “Why can’t I bottle honey and send it?”  So I started making gift bottles.

Then Rachel Melton joined our company.  It was significant because she is a graphic designer that just finished graduate school and had two great qualities.  She has amazing skills and she LOVES honey. She designed labels and packaging for the honey I would send out.  It turned out so good that I formed a small company called Beehouse.com. It was meant to sell just enough honey that I could get all my gifts out for free during Christmas. It has done that and become so popular I bought 600lbs of honey from Randy and his daughter for Christmas sales and we expect to sell 1000 bottles.  It’s still a side business and nursery comes first, but the nights and early morning have changed from watching TV to bottles and packing.   As if I had any extra time in the first place.  I tell the story because it’s how businesses are formed. Doing something you love and making it a business.  I won’t lie, a lot of my product disappears onto bagels and in coffee but we should have enough to meet orders.  I say we because Rachel has agreed to come in to help become a partner in the company.  Or I think she agreed, she hasn’t said no.
