Many of you know I write a newsletter for the nursery. I always felt that nobody opens a newsletter so you have to give them something worth reading. So for 15 years I’ve been including a little snippet like I do here every day. Its in my same casual style of writing. Written in 15 minutes and off the cuff. Whatever I’m feeling or thinking. I just write. It usually turns out pretty good. Some of the stories are better than others but it works. We are up to a 70% open rate and 6000 subscribers. With hundreds that have never been to the nursery and signed up because someone told them there were pretty pictures of plants and some great stories. I get an average of 10-15 emails after every newsletter telling me the like my writing and I need to write a book. That day is coming soon. I just need to come up with a theme, write it, edit the shit out of it, and try and get it published. Here is a little sample of what is in this week’s newsletter (before my editor gets a hold of it) I wrote it in 15 minutes but I’m not sure that an hour of thinking about it would have made any difference. Out of my head and on to paper seems to be the best route. Hope everyone has a great day, finds some names, and make a little money
In life there is a thing called diminishing returns. When each time you do something you get a little less out of it each time. It’s a shame, because if we all got the feeling we got the first time it happened, our world would be a much happier place. They say you never forget the first time . Its for a reason. After the first experience you come at with familiarity that takes away the edge. The second , the third, and after that , don’t have the unfamilarity and forward expectation once its been experienced.
It’s something I always think of because I don’t want to lose that excitement and I want to continue to experience new things because that’s the only way you can get that rush. Of course, it doesn’t mean abandoning people and things that are important parts of your life. While not as “exciting”, they are your foundation and that is just as important or more important, because they make you happy when the fringes of new journeys are complete.
I only wish I could bottle up that feeling of having a big pocket full of quarters and being dropped off at the arcade for the afternoon. Christmas as a 5 year old. First time riding your bike with no training wheels or help from your parents. A new puppy your parents brought home. The first date. The first time your kid says I love you “Daddy”
It could be that too much of these might actually desensitive you and make them less special. Perhaps dimishing returns is to keep you moving forward and adding things that are exciting to your life. It certainly could lead you down paths you shouldn’t go but it could be a driver towards something special. All depending on how you seek the “high”
I write this to remind you to cherish the great moments and to continue to seek them out. They usually don’t take place in the comforts of home or through a screen. The might even be uncomfortable at first before they become that great memory. There is no greater power than looking forward to something so make sure to give yourself something. New keeps you young. The excitement of the next day keeps you moving forward. Every day there is a flower some where in the garden. You just need to plant enough things that yield flowers

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
Good stuff!!!
I’d like to repost some of this on my facebook page today with credit to you as the writer if you don’t mind. I’ll take it down if you want. This was a great post
