I wouldn’t call myself a compassionate person. If anything I’m hard on people. I’m not very empathetic to those that don’t try but on the other hand I have the utmost respect for anyone puts in a good hard weeks work, regardless of pay. There is nothing more important in this world than effort. You’ll probably hear me talk about it several times but I had dinner with one of the most powerful men in the investment banking world. He was a CEO, an economic advisor to the President, and head of one of the Federal Reserves. He likes my stories and I admire his incredible wisdom and it leads to good conversation. One thing we talked about for a while was effort. He knew from all my stories that I like to go all in. Successful or not I put in the hours. In the business economic world we are looking for people with incredible knowledge, special talents, and any ability that will give our company an edge. But it all is wasted unless there is effort. You have to start with effort. It’s where we start with our kids. They may not be the best, the most talented, but if we can teach them to put forth effort, they will at least headed in the right direction. And a special thanks to all our active duty and veterans of the US.
