I loved seeing the Afternic domain sales this week. Plenty of LLLL.coms in there and many other names that were the types of names I buy every day. The difference is that someone is paying $5k for names I’m paying $1000 for. The key is to get those people to buy MY names. I need to get more of my names up for sale there. Let’s take a look at some of the names for sale at Godaddy, NameJet, and Snapnames today.
AGDT.com These were the types of names I mention above. A 1997, good letter 4L.com. The selling prices on these can be all over the board.
7147.com Pretty good name, even with the 4 in it.
Tezi.com The price is low right here. Under a $1000 is a good buy
Lori.net Used to have a dog named Lori and I think we spelled it this way. But please don’t buy it just because of that.
TVTurnoff.org PR6, 12,000 links and 12 year old domain. You’re buying that not the name and to me that has value.
Solvency.com Something we are all looking for. Reminds me of one of my favorite sayings. “The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent”
BreakTV.com I only put this up so you can see squatters in action. This is a play on the traffic from Break Media or break.com. I apologize if you are a bidder for other reasons but I can’t see it.
4um.com I talked about the liquidity of 3 character dot com names yesterday. The amount of bids prove my point and this auction yT5.com is at $800 on 4.cn
BidWar.com How ironic would it be if you got in a bidding war for bidwar.com ? 13 year old domain
UpMy.com I prefer upyours.com but this will do. Memorable yes. Monetizable (not a real word), I’m not sure.
4380.com Will go cheap here.
“I need to get more of my names up for sale there”
I hear a lot of people state that and then they do list and nothing really happens. I’m not sure why it is, but a lot of people rarely sell domains at Afternic. Afternic sells a lot of there domains and a trickle of customer listed domains (at one point I checked and it was about 90% afternic domains sold to 10% customer domains). I did another study and it was about 80% to 20%. Now they reported filtered results.
I don’t know why, but for some reason they do not appear to sell that many customer listed domains compared to self owned domains.
Just an FYI.
I forgot.. UpMy.com would be a lot of fun to play with sub-domains and categories with the domain. LOL
Right.UpMy.com/Alley
Jamie you are right about that. Afternic sells mostly their names. They do get good prices for their names too. Like you said Shane $5000 for names that seem to be in the $1000 to $1500 range.
Hi Everyone,
While its true that as a whole NameMedia does sell more of our own names than third party names, this is because the majority of our DLS names are not priced.
Priced names sell much more quickly than unpriced names; Buyers want to see a price and will tend pass over your name if it is not listed! (They may even opt to not view unpriced names when searching)
We encourage anyone listing names at Afternic —or who wishes to list names—to call our Domain Consultants to review your portfolio: 1-866-351-9586 (Toll Free) +1 781-839-7990 (Worldwide). We will help you appraise and price your domains!
