I’m taking over for Josh today because he’s trying to win $10K in a fishing tournament. If you read here daily you already know my hobby is running, Josh’s is fishing (although he wins money doing it), and Travis’ is collecting antique radios, and Mike’s is chasing his boys around. I forgot how nice it was to have Friday nights off from writing the list but fortunately the NCAA basketball tournament was on so I just worked and watched.
I was talking with Michael Cyger on the phone the other day about an auction he was interested in and whether it was a good buy or not. He loved the name but had done his homework to come up with a number it needed to be to make it worthwhile to him. We talked/texted about it until it got to his number and eventually passed it. It was an easy no for him because of his decision making process. His process is actually a check sheet. At DNAcademy he’s created a great prebuy checklist to go through to analyze the name. It ensures you know everything you can going into the purchase. I was really impressed how thought out it is. Mike went on to write a post about his process of buying a name using the sheet. You have to be a member to read it but you should be if you’re anything other than super experienced. And I’m not saying this because I’m being paid. I actually turned down advertising from Mike because I don’t like to mix business with pleasure and Mike is one of my better friends in the industry. We talk pretty much every day about something. Mostly running. But I saw that check sheet and DnAcademy and it reminded me that he truly is the most organized, professional person in this industry. It comes across in DnAcademy. Just not in his running
PS: Travis doesn’t collect antique radios
