Brandbucket sends emails out every now and then reminding you to check the pricing on your domains. In the past I would ignored them, since there’s already a specific range that the prices have to stay within. The range is based on their determination, not really sure what the criteria is.
2 weeks ago I decided to check and see if there were any prices that I could adjust. I went through and marked down anything that was on what seemed like a psychological border. For example if the name was priced at 2150 and the range allowed me to lower the price to 1995 I did.
This week I sold 3 names at Brandbucket, I’m not sure if they were part of the group that I changed or if it’s just coincidence, Who knows.
It’s all part of the game, Who really knows what the right move is all the time? I know that names might sell for a crazy high price with the right buyer. I know that I will sell more names that are priced reasonably. I know that I’ll sell even more names if the prices are a tad lower than that reasonable price.
The only thing I can do is to find a middle ground that works. After trying many different things, and looking at my completely unscientific random data, I still think the best approach is to price reasonably or just under “reasonable”, cash flow, have momentum and repeat.
You don’t have to treat your whole portfolio like this, but if you’re having trouble selling, I think it would be a good idea to take a portion of your names, identify them as expendable, lower the prices and see what happens.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
Hey Josh,
Can you share the three domains you sold on Brand Bucket?
