Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with data courtesy of NameBio.
Flips
SBDH.com sold for 1,901 USD recently at NameJet, vs 157 USD on 2011-07-26 at NameJet. A couple profitable flips for LLLL.com are listed this week when the acquisition date was a year or more ago, whereas there are a couple rough flops below when the holding period was less than a year.
FDFT.com sold for 1,500 USD recently at NameJet, vs 285 USD on 2014-07-22 at GoDaddy.
PHKS.com sold for 1,372 USD recently at 4.CN, vs 190 USD on 2014-10-04 at NameJet.
Print.ly sold for 1,499 USD recently at Flippa, vs 650 USD on 2016-01-10 at Park.io. Nearly a double after commissions in a few months.
EcoPromotions.com sold for 2,750 USD recently at BuyDomains, vs 364 USD on 2012-07-16 at NameJet. This one looks to be a smart upgrade from EcoPromotionsOnline.com, and a screenshot is below. “Helping organizations brand themselves on environmentally & socially responsible merchandise.”
Flops
TRHQ.com sold for 1,430 USD recently at NameJet, vs 1,699 USD on 2015-11-19 at Flippa. This is one of those LLLL.com domains acquired less than a year ago, mentioned above.
FSDB.com sold for 1,500 USD recently at NameJet, vs 1,500 USD on 2015-10-16 at NameJet. 15% commissions would put this at a $225 loss.
CashQuick.com sold for 16,150 USD recently at NameJet, vs 15,000 USD on 2013-11-20 at NameJet. A loss of over $1,000 after factoring in commissions.
ContractControl.com sold for 517 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 24,479 USD on 2013-12-08 at Afternic. Ouch, nearly $25k down the tubes. Based on a look at Archive.org, they never got a site up…..I only see a placeholder with “ContractControl.com is under construction” in the past.
Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
