Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with data courtesy of NameBio.
Flips
Pathology.org sold for 8,700 USD recently at Sedo, vs 3,995 USD on 2009-09-02 at GoDaddy. Looks like it was picked up by the owner/developer of Pathology.co.uk, Dr David Poller. The site looks like it was from a couple decades ago, but that’s all right….at least there is a site.
ARglasses.com sold for 7,600 USD recently at Flippa, vs 3,100 USD on 2010-02-10 at Sedo. AR for augmented reality.
TNGR.com sold for 1,525 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 168 USD on 2010-12-15 at NameJet. Nearly 8x after commission, which isn’t surprising for an LLLL.com over a six year hold.
ItalianSchool.com sold for 810 USD recently at NameJet, vs 218 USD on 2016-01-02 at NameJet. It won’t make the seller rich, but 2.5x after commission in a year is a good thing.
Flops
Missing.net sold for 839 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 1,800 USD on 2011-02-27 at Sedo. Considering the downfall of .net domains, it could have been worse for the seller.
ArkansasHealthInsurance.com sold for 500 USD recently at NameJet, vs 3,200 USD on 2012-02-28 at NameJet. Long, keyword domains have been hammered.
Takes.com sold for 7,877 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 10,000 USD on 2012-10-14 at Afternic. A screenshot from a couple years ago is below…..appears to have been an app to convert pictures to social videos.
Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
