Before the domains, a quick picture from a snowshoeing trip in the mountains yesterday and today. Colorado really got smacked with a spring storm, with about two feet of snow to struggle through on the 10 mile trip into a remote hut outside of Leadville. Wonderful weekend.
Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with data courtesy of NameBio.
Flips
BSFT.com sold for 5,750 USD recently at Sedo, vs 516 USD on 2014-11-29 at GoDaddy. The buyer appears to be Blueshift Labs, which resides at GetBlueshift.com. The company closed an $8 million round of financing in January, and is described as follows, “Blueshift enables B2C marketers to automate Segment-of -One marketing on every channel.” Nothing resolves at BSFT.com yet.
DDLR.com sold for 1,650 USD recently at NameJet, vs 141 USD on 2012-10-14 at NameJet. The $1,650 is well below what the seller could have received 4 months ago, but it’s still a tidy profit compared to the 2012 acquisition price. There were many similar situations this week with LLLL.com, and a couple more are below.
SPDW.com sold for 1,535 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 131 USD on 2013-04-11 at GoDaddy.
PMBY.com sold for 1,400 USD recently at NameJet, vs 320 USD on 2014-08-27 at NameJet.
DIW.com sold for 23,100 USD recently at NameJet, vs 12,500 USD on 2008-04-28 at Sedo. I suspect the same is true for DIW as I stated for DDLR.
Flops
Based on the pricing and the acquisition venues, it looks like a couple end users took a run at a new site, but things must not have worked out.
EGOA.com sold for 825 USD recently at NameJet, vs 4,996 USD on 2011-08-24 at Afternic.
StockTweets.com sold for 816 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 5,000 USD on 2011-03-01 at Sedo.
Mayerline.com sold for 605 USD recently at DropCatch, vs 2,988 USD on 2011-02-02 at Afternic.
InventoryLiquidators.com sold for 444 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 4,000 USD on 2009-06-02 at Afternic.
Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
