Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with recent data courtesy of DN Journal and historical data from NameBio.
Flips
- JS6.com – Sold recently for $2,800 at Sedo, vs $532 earlier this year at GoDaddy. The domain is parked, and owned by an individual in China. I love my CCC.com’s, and if that is an investor sale and not an end user sale, I love my CCC.com’s even more now.
- BMCapital.com – Sold recently for $5,000 at Sedo, vs $314 only a month ago at GoDaddy. Nearly 16x return before commission in a month…not too shabby. A quick search shows a few company names which include “BM Capital”, one of which has the not-so-sexy domain of BM-C-M.com…..let’s hope they upgraded.
- QEE.com – Sold recently for $20,500 at NameJet, vs $10,882 in 2007 at Sedo. The domain is parked, and owned by an investor in China.
Flops
- Play.info – Sold recently for $2,183 at Flippa, vs $9,999 in 2011 at Sedo…..around an 80% loss. Currently owned by an “Omnitec Inc.” of Barbados. The site (screenshot below) has been live for years, and it has an Alexa rank near 1.9 million, but it was a domain-only listing at Flippa.
Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.

I used to own js6.com and a few other LLN.com. Paid $40 for it in July 2005. There were many LLN selling on Afternic Bazaar back then for 10 to 50 bucks each. Sold it for maybe a couple hundred long ago. Should have bought tons and held on!
Thanks for the comment —– buying for $40 and selling for a couple hundred a long time ago is a pretty good profit, in my book! I think the $532 it sold for earlier this year is right about ‘market’ for a sale to another domainer.
I jumped into CCC.com’s long after you…..my cost basis for most of the NLL and LLN that I have are in the $200-$300 range. I’ve sold a few when the right offers came around, but still holding the vast majority of them.
