Below is another look at a few recent domain flips and flops, with data courtesy of NameBio.
Flips
HireCoder.com sold for 3,688 USD recently at BuyDomains, vs 204 on 2015-12-01 at GoDaddy. Nice 18x return in under two years, which doesn’t seem to be that rare of an occurrence over at BuyDomains, although they do have a big inventory to pick from.
Sudd.com sold for 1,600 USD recently at NameJet, vs 831 USD on 2016-05-25 at NameJet. Solid return when flipping on the same NameJet platform, with under three months between the two sales.
SMSMarketing.com sold for 20,000 USD recently at Flippa, vs 6,012 USD on 2011-04-27 at Sedo.
5817.com sold recently for 37,166 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 1,130 USD on 2012-07-30 at GoDaddy. Excellent 32x return after commission, despite the drop in numeric values over the past 6 months.
Flops
MNHN.com sold for 1,509 USD recently at NameJet, vs 2,290 USD on 2015-11-20 at Sedo. Loss of over 40% after commission.
Greatful.com sold for 700 USD recently at NameJet, vs 2,519 USD on 2015-09-20 at GoDaddy. I spell it grateful.
OrganicSupermarket.com sold for 700 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 3,900 USD on 2013-06-24 at Afternic. Popular keywords, but an actual supermarket won’t likely use the keywords in their name.
iReplay.com sold for 505 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 10,000 USD on 2007-10-24 at Sedo. Over 95% loss after commission.
ScriptsBank.com sold for 1,190 USD recently at GoDaddy, vs 25,000 on 2011-03-28 at Sedo. Over a $24k loss after commission. You can see a screenshot of the prior developed directory below, but things must not have panned out.
Note: I didn’t do an exhaustive search of the ownership history of each domain. There are likely cases where there were multiple owners between the sales prices I list.
