95% of all domain investors are just straight up gambling. No more evident than the recent .app buys. People like Bill Kara and Michael Berkens have enough experience selling names to know which names to spend money on. Plus they have the cash to take the risk. So many of these other registrations make no sense to me. If I were to try and search for a good .app it wouldn’t be in the top 10,000. But its not limited to .app
Every day I get people emailing me to ask me to promote a name on this list. 30-40% of I can’t even take their money because it has exactly zero percent chance of selling at auction and spending $10 on it makes no sense. I always respond by telling them to fake buy. Read the list every day. Read Travis’ list of domain auction results, and get a feel of what kind of names sell and for how much. Also read Ron Jackson’s weekly sales results (although ours has a lot more weekly results).
The problem is almost all of them come back with a one off response. OK I have been following and I have a good one. I saw redturtle.com sold for $2K (made up) and I have redishturtle.com so it should sell for $100 right? They just don’t get what is equal or similar. It’s hard to teach similar. Because all domain are unique. It’s the hardest part of this domain game. Knowing what is valuable. I think DNAcademy does as good of a job as anywhere on the net. That and Sherpa.
The hope is that people quit throwing darts. Buying hundreds hoping for a few good sales. It just doesn’t work now. It did back in the parking day or when good names were plentiful. Now the darts are hitting a shitty board.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
I’d be curious to see some of the names being submitted. I submitted one months ago, but didn’t get any response – it must have been awful LOL
My apologies Tom. I miss emails some times because the spam that comes through. Please send another any time. It’s on the house. Unless its terrible 🙂
Haha I’m thinking it may have been because I don’t even remember the name myself.
If you don’t hear from Shane, feel free to send it to me as well. I can usually reach him.
