I hear it a few times a week. “I feel comfortable with my bid because Taryn was the next bid” Or a seller gets excited because Taryn bid on it. If you don’t know Taryn is the house account of the Frank Schilling company Uniregistry. Frank has explained a few times on few times on Domain Sherpa that he personally bids using he accounts some times but they have a company plan on what names to bid on and how much. That its usually not him and they don’t generally get caught up in the auctions. They have a price in mind and stick to it.
Initially I thought this was silly but the more I think about it, the more I realize its as solid of a plan as any. Uniregistry has as much sales data as anyone in the industry. They know what sells for them and most likely bid accordingly. But you’re not Uniregistry. But you can be pretty close by using their parking platform. Its the same landers and communication tool they use so you conceivably can sell just as many names as them if you have the skill. So following them or feeling more confident because they are bidding beside you isn’t the worst strategy I’ve heard. And if they are bidding on your name then they have been kind enough to add confidence to your name. Most likely drawing in other bidders because of the conversation above.
Most of you know I do a few other shows other than Domain Sherpa. I am Domain Shane to some and Shane Cultra 5th generation plantsman to others. Here is our show from PBS this past week. Yes, the panelist and sometimes the content is a bit local and boring, but being in front of the camera in front of a live audience still takes some work. I have been doing TV shows since 1995 but I still screw up an open or blow a close. But its great practice for public speaking and problem solving. Because you are running a show and changing it up as it flows. I will also say the most difficult thing in all of television is having the producer talk to you while you are talking. Feeding you information, or lines, or directions while you are in the middle of speech. Your brain is not made to talk and listen at the same time. Getting it to do both takes some work. Actually getting it to do either one takes practice.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
