Growing up I was a sneaker collector. Actually I was an everything collector. One of the things I collected was Air Jordans. I had a pretty good collection. Every shoe up until XIII. All size 11.5. Like everything I have ever owned I sold too soon. I can’t remember exactly what I got for them but it was around $6000. At the time, that was a big amount of money for me. Enough to take a vacation and pay some bills. Now, just my pair of original Jordans are worth that. Brand new in box. Box alone probably worth $500 or more. I always knew that the boxes would be what made it valuable because people kept their items in great condition but threw the box away or let it get rough. Heck I had a pretty good collection of Jordan I boxes without the shoes. I also realized that things made to be collectible were going to be the least valuable. What made things valuable was when nobody saved them. But regardless, a time came I needed money and my collection was one of the few things that had value.
Now I see the sneaker market is bigger than its ever been. It’s crazy. StockX.com and the GOAT app are on fire. Young wealthy adults, especially Asians, are paying big money for shoes. New releases can be sold for double within ours, and Nike and other companies have new special releases every day. You all made fun of my Nike Vaporfly 4% (Ok, just Elliot) but Nike saw the demand and raised them from $250 to $350 for the newest color and they still sold out. StockX has turned into the market they hoped the would. With thousands of people buying and selling shoes for profit. Something I did 20 years ago. Of course it took me 15 years until I could sell so really its not even close to the same thing. I was just the first generation to start collecting shoes for resale. Here are today’s domains. Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. I Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by me Shane, or Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct. I hand choose my names but I am paid to make this list by the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
I still have my old comic book collection in about a dozen or so of those specially made for comics long boxes. I haven’t checked the prices in .. well .. not sure if the year in question even starts with a 2!? lol
.
I don’t get the shoe thing though .. not that I don’t think collecting them is a good things, because they obviously have value .. I just don’t get the elements of a running shoe that actually give them that value/demand!
.
I just hope for your sake that your wife doesn’t have a similar need to collect shoes .. women’s shoes an just be insane in terms of pricing .. i bought a few along the way for my ex .. and it’s just crazy $$$! :-/
.
Last I checked Gradient was at $31,000 .. reminds me of the types of domains Drew would talk about getting at $5k on Domain Sherpa! lol .. Glad you’re confirmed to be back on the new version of it! 🙂
You should get Coins.cc working. Great name.
I sold SneakerHero.com for $ 3,450.00 in 2016 – It’s definitely a hot market.
