One of the hardest things I’ve found in business is duplicating success. It’s actually true for anything in life. Once you feel what it’s like to have something great happen, you want more. You want to get that feeling again and try and make the magic happen one more time. In our industry you sell a domain for a good amount and you can’t wait to do it again. Or you write one article that gets a lot of visits and/or positive feedback and all of sudden part 2 gets written. As I get older I realize there are simply things that are special moments. Things that can’t or won’t be replicated and you need to just enjoy what happened, take it in, and figure out what your next special moment is going to be. I found myself spending too much time trying to do it again instead of just trying to keep moving forward. Add in the diminishing returns and its even more reason to keep moving. Diminishing returns meaning it takes more of something to get the same feeling. Its why gamblers are so miserable. As you progress you have to gamble more money to get the high you felt when you were betting less. That sale of a domain that netted you $100 means nothing to you now and it takes a $1000 domain to move the needle. Then $5,000 and on and on.
Add it all in together we all end up chasing success. I haven’t quite figured it out yet but I am getting closer every day to treating each success independently and trying to enjoy it a little before I try and reach a next goal. I still get fooled into doing things twice by saying that I am doing it again because that strategy worked. In reality it was a random combinations of events that turned it into being something great. So now I’m going to try and enjoy that great for a few seconds. Look back on the experience that got me to that success before I immediately start working on trying to do it again. There’s plenty of hard work ahead

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. I Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by me, Shane . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct. I hand choose my names but I am paid to make this list by the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
Well said.
Read in a book lately, people keep watching the same movies over and over because they know what’s going to happen.
If you learn to appreciate the small, yet equally important things in life every day is an adventure
