Domain Shane’s Daily List of Domains at Auction for Thursday August 24th

Escrow.com

I had my first results via DropCatch and overall I think it went well. I got crushed on 888733.com and sold it at a big loss. I knew it was coming so its not Dropcatch’s fault.  I bought way too high.   But Weed.cc went well and I made a little money on it.  $500 or roughly 40% for 2 years work.   Not the best but if I can do that 1000 times I’ll be happy.  Actually I would take 100 times.   I realize that profit is what pays the bills but since this name was paid for two years ago, the revenue goes straight back into the kitty (minus taxes) and I have all the money to put back into names. I do things a little differently than most.  I use the revenue I create from my domain names to buy the next names.  No sales, no income from the blog, no purchases.  Some times I have to wait weeks to buy a name.  Most domain investors are too addicted to wait weeks and put some of their bill paying and savings back into their domain purchases.  I don’t and so I have to wait.  I also like to keep a  buffer in my account and if it gets below that I don’t buy a name.

You know that old saying “when something great comes along you don’t have the money and when you have the money nothing great comes along”.   Well, I’m going to have the money when something great comes along.   At the time I bought trunk.com my buffer number was a bit lower than it is now.  I had been talking to the people for years but when they were ready to sell they came quickly. Fortunately,  I had it and I spent it.   It worked out well.  And I’ll be ready if it comes around again.  I don’t have to spend it.  I won’t spend it unless its something very special.  I dipped into it to buy Uncomfortable.com and Dustpan.com last month so I haven’t done much buying in August.  But I’m having a great month and my kitty should be flush if it keeps it up for the next 10 days.  Money management is the key to gambling and investing.  I was terrible at it for 45 years.  Now that I’ve gotten better at it I understand why its so important. Here are today’s names. Quote of the Day:   “You can do anything, but not everything”  —David Allen

Domains of the Day:   BUQE.com   Looks at the average price of CVCV and you’ll see these have move up faster than most categories

Namejet Names at Auction

BaggageClaim.com  Love this one.  A lot of different uses and a term everyone knows

Cloudset.com  Cloud names still one of the top categories

RomanceClub.com    the Tinder of Romantics

CosmeticIndustry.com  Billions of dollars, 49 bidders

MastersScholarships.com   going to take a buildout but there are Masters students looking to help pay for college

NCEnergy.com  I’ve said it a lot but I like energy names.  I think alternative is going to play a big role in the future

8333.com   Probably not going to sell here but its getting publicity and that’s the point of putting it up for auction

Hipsters.org   Hipsters definitely deserve their own organization.    “An organization founded in 2017 but everyone looks like they are from 1840”

ByAmericans.com   but for the World

GrabStyle.com I’d rather have this at $17 but one of those names you can sell at BIN.  No bids

GameWing.com Not getting a lot of attention but gaming is too big for this to not have good value

🏉.ws  Who doesn’t love a good game of xn--6l8h on Sunday?

Names At Auction From Other Auction Houses

JNSW.com   At $350 at press time but doubt it will be there when it closes this afternoon

ActiveMix.com     I think of active ingredient but could mean movement.   19 bids

BudConvention.com  Canna con  all the way

Kezak.com   A nice little 5L.com getting a bid or two

WBER.com   Under $300 at press time and closing in a few hours

JVJ.com  Dave Evanson says this one is getting close to reserve which would be pretty reasonable

VIIM.com  Another one very close to reserve

Block-Chain.com  Looks like this one isn’t going to sell

TourBus.com  Not one single bid on this one.  None

Godaddy Domains That I Like With Multiple Bids

WeddingCrashers.com   Ma.  More Meatloaf

IFGA.com   1998 Domain.  The kind of LLLL.com I like to buy. But so does Elliot and a few others and they could care less if its me bidding or not

SummerGrove.com   Not going to get a lot for this but can turn a few hundred into a few thousand

Hagam.com  Becoming pretty much impossible to find a 5L under $50 that you can pronounce

Canver.com  I think it has value because its a good typo for cancer

TexasAutoInsurance.com    Nice to see a good old auto insurance name making the list again

ZDBD.com    The Chinese are going to like this one

Neo.co   Yep, a dot co is the highest price on the GD board today

AudioDownloads.com     Podcasts and books

Later.net What are you doing later? Later.net

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an emailI Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by me, Shane or Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct. I hand choose my names but I am paid to make this list by the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good

    Tony,
The point of this site was to share the journey so that’s what I’m doing. Leaving out parts is like telling half the story
