Ouch. Cryptocurrencies are showing why its a tough investment. Ether alone is down 45% since last month. I’m not saying they don’t have a future and I realize, like domains, its long term, but that doesn’t make it any easier to the people that bought last month. I did tell myself that I would put in $10K when it dropped to a certain level but I found a domain I like so that probably isn’t going to happen now.
On another note, we taped another DomainSherpa and had another great show. You’ll have to watch to see what he says. Josh of DSAD is on the show as well this coming week and it reminds me once again why I love being partners with him. Attacks this domain thing from a different angle than us and does well. Make sure to check it out next Monday. Going to be informative and you’re going to have some good laughs. Here are today’s names. Click for most recent price

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. I Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by me, Shane . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct. I hand choose my names but I am paid to make this list by the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
I took a quick look.
Bitcoin from roughly 3000 to 2250ish in same month.
No thanks.
Like many others, I am 100% convinced that this is not only the future of transactions and contracts, but also of money, itself.
Shane, your and my mindset as former options traders needs to be altered 180 degrees when it comes to Ether(eum). This can’t be looked at as a short-term trading vehicle. This is about being a permanent store of value.
When [we] trade other securities or commodities, there’s always some sort of ‘theoretical maximum’ price that can be reached; and when we trade them, that’s always in the back of our minds.
Here, in theory, Ether could spike to $1mm…today, because there’s no mathematical or intrinsic reason why it can’t. So just as it had a ‘flash crash’ a few weeks ago – solely because of a large sell order -, the inverse could easily happen as institutions start to load up, i.e., a panic spike: And once the limit orders are breached, there’s NOTHING at all to stop it from jumping exponentially.
Just some data to keep in mind:
– There are less than 100mm Ether in existence
– That means that there’s only one (1) Ether for every seventy-three (73) people on earth, or 2.80 USD worth of Ether for each person on earth
– There are literally hundreds of major corporations putting their reputations behind Ethereum, and Ethereum-related initiatives (and governments, as well)
Bottom line is that a few years from now people will be kicking themselves (hard) for not transferring some of their assets into Ether.
