I officially won’t be attending NamesCon this year. Instead I have chosen to go on a trip to Iten, Africa with a team of doctors. Obviously I’m no doctor but I thought I could be helpful at the hospital and village in some way and it would be an incredible experience. And I was asked if I wanted to go. Iten is known for producing the world’s best marathoners. If they aren’t from Iten, they train there. Its at 7000 feet and what it lacks in amenities you get back in your surroundings. But like most parts of Africa, they can use some help and training in other parts of life from experts from other parts of the world. I’ll be mostly tagging along.
I will miss not going to NamesCon. Its a fantastic event every year. I especially will miss hanging out with the DSAD team and former Sherpa Team. I miss meeting readers of the blog. Despite what many think, I’m not part of the old boys club and there aren’t very many companies that really have any interest in talking to me. We’re just a few guys that specialize in domain auctions, their results, and then what happens to the names after they are bought. In short, I don’t have any of those hall way meetings. Add in no Sherpa and it’s become more of a social event for me. And a hell of a social event it is. But social leads to business and business leads to money. So its worth every penny. Just not enough to skip this opportunity.
So while you guys are living it up, making good connections, and making tons of deals, I won’t. But I’ll probably have just as many stories and pictures. Just a little different than Las Vegas. Hopefully I’ll make it next year. Here are today’s names, you have to click to see current price.
Quote of the Day: “Take wrong turns. Talk to strangers. Open unmarked doors. And if you see a group of people in a field, go find out what they are doing. Do things without always knowing how they’ll turn out” -Randall Monroe

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. I Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by me Shane, or Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything I say is based on my own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or my opinion is correct. I hand choose my names but I am paid to make this list by the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good
Sigh .. half the reason I was hoping to make it to namescon was to play craps with you guys! 🙁
The auction for sati.com seems a bit weird. This domain sold for $100K at Sedo back in April and now at auction virtually without reserve?
Also, on the sales page at Sedo, seller has an asking price of $22 million. Not sure the auction will go quite that high 😉
Yeah,
that does seem odd now that you mention it
