I was commenting on Twitter the other day and congratulating someone for their names doing much better than I thought. The thing about giving your opinions is that when you are wrong, you point it out and congratulate those that have success when you think they wouldn’t. I really thought those .cx names never had a chance in Hell. But early in the auction they are doing pretty well. What surprised me even more (and it shouldn’t have) are the negative comments following. “Who gets excited about a $250 sale” and “the buyer may not pay and the other one hasn’t actually met reserve”.
One thing I’ve never understood. There is exactly zero reason to not wish success on another domain investor unless you think their success is taking away from your profits. If it doesn’t effect you I think you should be rooting them on. I don’t care who they are. There are people in this industry I think are asshats but I still hope they make some money. Just because I think they are an asshat doesn’t mean they don’t have people around them that think are great and some rely on their income. Obviously the statements above aren’t wishing bad things on Dosebuy, but sometimes we all have to remember we all were newer investors where a few hundred dollar profits were a big deal. As I said in the followup tweet. I can remember when I made my first five hundred dollar profit sale and thought “I can pay my car payment with this” . It was exciting. Unfortunately it takes more to move the needle but that doesn’t mean that $500 is less money. Honestly it was more fun when it meant more. Now go get those Black Friday deals on things you don’t really need. Of course after you buy a few domains

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
To be clear I wasn’t wishing ill on dosebuy. I hope he sells the names. I was just tired of seeing his name pop up all the time, like he’s the second coming of domain Jesus. He is Leroy Jenkins’ing the domain game and we all better watch out.
Therefore, I’m selling my entire .com portfolio for pennies on the dollar (except truck-nuts.com) and am going all in on .cx
Bar,
I know you meant nothing by it. Dose is definitely over the top but as I said, I criticized him for having those shitty domains and they look like they are going to sell. Do I recommend people go in on .cx. NO. But obviously there are a few terms that may sell for profit. Something I didn’t expect. If I dish it out I’m more than willing to take it. That is except for the people I block that are always negative. Everything needs to be balanced.
