You can go into something being a douche or you can go into it kindly. The result is not dependent on your approach, only your relationship afterwards. Nobody needs to be chastised. Especially those with less information, less money, or less power. You already have the upper hand and control the game. Being a dick during the process only shows your faults not your power. I grew up with a man who lead through fear and intimidation. He used his incredible size, strength and intelligence to make sure that anyone that dealt with him knew who was in control. Those he led enjoyed the leadership and followed him. That was until the drain of the drive led them to other pastures. Nobody wanted to deal with the emotion and push long term. It was too draining. People in today’s market are even more fragile. No way would they take the talks that my Father used to give. Kids would cry if they were pushed the way we were pushed back in the day. But that doesn’t make today’s youth weak or babies. They just won’t put up with the shit that we put up with. Kids raised by good parents will continue to thrive. Kids taught to work hard will know that working hard is how you get the goods.
And all this is why its more important than ever to go into a negotiation or a relationship with kindness. You can be hard, determined, and stoic on your price without being mean. A future door is open with a good negotiation and conclusion. There is one exception. If someone pokes you. With no other desire than to fire you up. Then all hell should be thrown upon them. To the point that they are reminded that a man with kindness can also be the same man that makes every morning they wake up miserable. That they wished that they had crawled into a cage full of rabid, hungry raccoons instead of poking the bear. But all this is only after trying to be nice. Here are today’s names. ‘Don’t mistake my kindness for weakness. I am kind to everyone, but when someone is unkind to me, weak is not what you are going to remember … …
A quote attributed to Al Capone
I should have just put that 😀
uh… aren’t you Christians supposed to be turning the other cheek?
I’m not that far in the book yet
Mathew 21:12 Jesus entered the Temple and began to drive out all the people buying and selling animals for sacrifice. He knocked over the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves. 13-He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves!”
Picking verses to support viewpoints is the easy part.
1 Peter 3:9
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
