Today is my least favorite day on the web. April Fools day. A day when everyone tries to be creative and silly. It’s gotten to a point that nobody believes anything that is written today. Essentially wasting an entire day of publishing and reading. I’ll suffer through it like the rest of us and look forward to April 2nd.
As you know I am part of a group that works in the winter in Africa and we work with some great people that live in Eldoret and Iten Kenya. One of them is Wesley Korir who won the Boston Marathon in 2012. He called us and said that he would be running the Boston Marathon again this year and that he wanted to fly in and say hello since he was in the States. So we are having him stay with us and are going to do a fundraiser a few days before our local marathon. I’m not sure if people will think it is as cool as I think it is to meet a winner from the Boston Marathon, but I hope we have a good turnout.
I also agreed this weekend to give the commencement speech at a local High School. The principal has heard me speak before and thought I would give a good speech. I honestly never get nervous giving a talk but I am pretty nervous. I’ve never spoken in front a large group of High School students. That’s not really in my wheelhouse. I have two months to work on it and its only 10 minutes long so I’m confident I can come up with something strong. I’m sure I’m going to talk about uncomfortable and my Mr. Hustle trophy but it needs to be memorable. Here are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD keep on keeping on.
