I was watching the Netflix special about Fyre Festival while I worked on the list last night. It’s one of those stories that are so good you just couldn’t make it up. While not saying its a scam because I don’t know the details, but it does remind me of DigitalTown. I read all the press releases but I still can’t figure out where revenue comes from and what they do. I have lots of words describing what it is they do but have yet to see anything functional that resemble a true revenue source. I know that Huffington Post has been looking into it and possibly working on a story so maybe they will provide some detail. But I can’t watch Fyre and not think of it.
The Fyre story is a perfect example of how the Internet can present any picture you want but nobody knows the reality behind them. Everyone is living the perfect life with beautiful pictures in incredible destinations. But what lies between the pictures and perfection could be a little different. Until you’re sitting in their living room or in their boardroom, you have to take everything with a grain of salt. But I won’t lie. I love looking at the Instagram of Dan Bilzerian and listening to him on podcasts telling his crazy stories. It’s much easier for me to live through these photos than to put forth the effort and do them myself. I’m sure others pay attention for the same reasons. It’s like going to a big sporting event. It would be fun but it takes a lot of time and money to get there and sometimes it seems more fun to just sit at home and take it in from the comforts of your couch.
And yet after all this talk I want a Fyre T-Shirt to wear out to be cool. How ironic. Here are today’s names. Make sure to click on the names to see the current price and to help DSAD continue writing each day.
