Only the older domain investors will remember Dan Brown aka Danno. Danno was an ex horse track guy that got into domain investing. He and Frank Schilling became friends and Danno wrote on Frank’s Seven Mile blog regularly back in the early 2010s. Dan was one of the first people that “got me”. He always wrote me encouraging emails telling me to continue to be myself on this blog. To continue to write about my journey, even if it wasn’t for everyone on a given day. I also worked at a horse track for 4 years in the back stretch so we also had that in common. Dan passed away back in 2012 and I felt like a friend even though I had never met him and barely even knew what he looked like. He was one of the first people that was a “fan” and he, Escrow.com, and Francois of Domain Investing single handily kept me blogging in the beginning when I was making zero dollars to do it. Encouragement was my only form of payment and at times that was enough.
I think of Dan every once in a while and although they are completely different people I met Alan Dunn right after his passing and I often morph those two guys together. I morph them because Alan has become the guy that takes the time to write and lets me know what stories he enjoyed or just to shoot the shit just like Dan used to. Ironically Alan was a great, regular blogger back in the day like Dan and Frank so he knows what it takes to keep moving forward on a daily basis. He also knew when to quit like Frank. Unfortunately God took Dan before he could make that choice but he certainly left and impact on me and for that I will forever be thankful. Here are today’s names.
