It was harvest day for the old Cultra bee hives. Took my share home and now I have a gallon of honey. Which if I calculate it out using my current rate of a teaspoon or two a day and my current reserves, should last me 5 years. I have about 50 different honeys with by far my favorite being Tupelo. And of course its the one kind I’m out of. But this batch is very very good. Its pretty much clover based and super sweet. And yes I know all honey is sweet but if you’ve had enough you’ll know that some are a sweeter sweet. Many of the honeys are pretty complex and work better on certain foods than other. For instance, Acacia tree honey is great on meats. I love to add it to meat, cheese and crackers.
I’m actually going to divide up the honey and give it to people at work. I’ll keep a little for myself since its the first ever batch but honey is the perfect gift. Never goes bad, good in so many things, and a little goes a long way.
