You might remember when I went to Kenya and so many of you donated your hard earned money to help us do work in Iten Kenya. We worked with many local families who couldn’t afford a doctors visit and paid for their visits. Approximately 200 of them. We also worked with many of the local athletes who were training but couldn’t find a real Ortho doctor to help them with their injuries. Those that could afford it flew to Europe and those that couldn’t pretty much just tried to rest and massage their injuries away.
We met so many great athletes and this past week a lot of them ran in the World Championships in Doha Qatar. One of our partners ended up being named the coach of the Kenyan marathon team. One of the young men we worked with is only 19 and got bronze in the 10K. Amazing to see him at such a young age take people much older and more experienced than him right to the wire. I texted him how proud I was of him. He goes to a school that our group works with and he had the marks to go to college in the US but was so good there was just no way he could pass up the money he could win running. He just had to stay healthy. And he has. He’s won the three biggest 10Ks in the world and came to NY and ran the fastest 10K ever run by anyone in the US. Won Peachtree in Atlanta and now 3rd in the world championships. I asked him last night what next and he said the Olympics. He thinks he can get a medal next year in Tokyo.
I write all this because while I spend my winters going to help others what I get in return is more than I give. See many of the young men and women go on to college and succeed in life or in sport where without some outside help, just wouldn’t have happened. I see grace and grateful every day when I’m there and its something I needed to show more of. I pretend like I’m there to give but in hindsight its really to get. And this weekend watching all the athletes and their successes was fantastic. So looking forward to going back this winter.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
Fantastic story to start the week. Thanks Shane.
cool to see the results of why you do it.
Thanks Tim and Tom,
I would like to do more but like most of us I’m still in the part of my life where I have a few other obligations but once I move on from those I can’t wait to do more
