It’s Labor Day here in the US which is supposed to be the day you give off to employees but its turned into a day where retail doesn’t let anyone off and only the corporate people get off. Turning into blue collar serving white collar all day. I close the nursery though because I think everyone deserves a day off and to get paid for it. Of course the plants don’t know its a day off so we have a group that has to go in and water. I pay double pay that day to try and make up for it but I’m always grateful to those that do extra.
On the domains front I sold a domain via Afternic, Arb.info. I got the email early in the morning that said the name had been canceled. I thought to myself, while not a great name, I really didn’t mean to let it expire. Then I got the Afternic email that said it was for $888 and felt a lot better. I used the money to upgrade my portfolio and buy XFrame dot com. Not a world changing name but I like it and its better than the .info. Cost me a little more than what I made after commission but a pretty good trade. That’s how I’ve been building my portfolio the last few years. When I sell, I buy a better name than I sold. Some times a few better names.
Also, I noticed that quite a few people track my portfolio movements. I’m honored that anyone cares. I really don’t have anything to hide so feel free. I’m at 99% dot com but I do need to get rid of my numerics. I will let most of them expire. And yes, I have a few NN.ws and LL.ws that I have no idea what I’ll do with them. Still figuring that out.
Here are today’s names. Click through to see the current price
Quote of the Day: “Everybody has a secret world inside of them. All of the people of the world, I mean everybody. No matter how dull and boring they are on the outside, inside them they’ve all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing worlds. Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands maybe.” -Neil Gaiman

Good strategy of upgrading your portfolio with quality names.
Keep it up and thanks for sharing!
“Also, I noticed that quite a few people track my portfolio movements.”
How do you know quite a few people are tracking your portfolio movements?
Is there a tool that monitors your ins and outs based on your whois email address?
Vito,
DomainIQ and Whoisology does it. And I know because people post or email about names I’ve bought or sold but haven’t announced. I don’t care. It’s not a bad portfolio so I have nothing to hide. Others have to go private because their portfolios suck and they are making a living being a guru
I figured it may have been Domain Tools but never had a membership there or the other 2 you mentioned. I know Jamie used to post Domain Movers (which is always awesome), and Elliot always posts 1 worders that move out of NameFind. I figured they used a service that maybe monitored NS changes or something. Had no idea that they can monitor domains in and out of any email address that is tied to whois.
.
That’s funny, people putting their domains under privacy because their domains suck. I probably have a few I should do that to also…lol
.
Thanks, I will check those 2 sites out one day.
Shane – Congrats selling Arb.info! Also, try eating pizza & beer to gain weight (it works for me)! 😉
