Not many people know the best domain finders in the business are actually a trio. The Booth brothers, Andy and James, are known for acquiring names nobody thought could be acquired ,but actually there is one more person on their team. Their Mom. Mom has been behind the scenes writing emails, making calls, hunting down names that have been buried in company portfolios for decades. Andy was the first to benefit but James came on board and now reaps the rewards.
She’s made quite a nice living from the hunt as she gets a cut of the action just like the rest of the team. Pretty much everyone at the top of the domain food chain has benefitted for her hard work. Whether they will admit it or not, most of us have bought a name a little above wholesale from Andy or James. They have fed us some of the best domains in the business. If he named off the names he’s sold other domain investors you would be amazed. When I was talking to a person about where you can find the best names I said ” Expired domains, auctioned private names, personal hunting, and the Booth brothers”
On a follow up to my post the other day about my options. After 2 days of not following my own plan I decided to follow it and vowed to not change my mind. Friday was expiry day and the market opened way down. On days like this the market tends to dip and recover and then in the last 30 minutes the stock usually decides how it wants to set up in the last 30 minutes. I say usually but really I mean in the stock I’m watching, Paypal, it has been lately. Please don’t buy anything based on my stories. You will lose money like I often do. My goal was not to.
So Paypal dumps and dumps hard. It gets to the point that its much more down than the Nasdaq Unreasonably so in my opinion. It’s up a ton since March but the quarterly results have shown the company is growing like crazy. So I figured I would wait for a point I though was a good low. I didn’t know what it would be, but I found a time I thought NOW!!!!!. Now is the time to buy. So bought the 40 of the 190 calls and the stock was somewhere at 185.70-80 (I’m doing this from memory) The calls were $1.60 and super risky but it was early and I figured it wold come back. My plan was simple. Sell at 2:30 central. No sooner, no later. Do not do anything before or after. Go away. And that’s what I did. At 2:20 I come back to see how I’m doing and its going well. About 2:30 I do what I say and sell at $4.40. 2.5 times return. To make it feel even better the stock dropped a few dollars in the last 30 minutes to the point my calls would have been close to break even had I waited until the very end. Not something I forecasted, but I knew anything could happen before a long Labor Day weekend.
This type of trading is SUPER risky. I look at it just like domains. If you’re good a picking your spots, one success pays for all the losers. I could easily have lost all my money on the trade. But I did this type of trade three days in a row. For the three days combined I’ve tripled my money. Each trade is the same amount so to lose all of it at this point I would have to have a total loss 4 days in a row. Based on history, I have a total loss an average of 1 in 10. So how is my long term return? It’s all over the board the last 10 years. Most years I make about 20%, One year I lost my entire $20K bankroll and blew up. Two years I made six figures. This year? Not sure. I just started trading again a few weeks ago. I didn’t have the money until Niq sold. And I can tell you this. Although riskier than Bitcoin, I am almost positive that in the long run I can beat the returns.

Have a name at auction and need more exposure? Send me an email. We Charge $10 per name per day. We may be able to help. If you have an auction you want to promote, email us for details.*All names chosen by us, Shane and Josh . (ie you click through and purchase a name you like) or an occasional paid listing. Everything we say is based on our own research or is opinion. Do your own due diligence. That means look it up yourself if you don’t think the stats or our opinion is correct. We hand choose the names but we are paid to make this list by both the auction houses, individuals that are auctioning names, and Godaddy affiliate links. Keep that in mind and only buy names that YOU think are good.
